If you're debating going to a Community College for the first 2 years and then transferring, RVCC is not a bad bet. Sure, you won't be getting much of the "college experience" but it does help incredibly with guiding you in the right direction towards your future career. I know many intelligent students (high school GPA's of 3.6 and higher)who lacked the money for a 4 year university and went to RVCC.

As for the academic aspects, what teacher you have basically determines everything. Definitely look on ratemyprofessor.com . The first semesters I just picked whatever classes fit my schedule, did very poorly and wasn't a huge fan of some of my teachers. This past semester I picked out matches for me, judging by the dozens of reviews by RV kids. I fell in love with most of my teachers and was sad to leave them in May! Many have doctorates in their field and teach at other 4- Year universities anyways. The teachers I've had have always been very helpful and as long as you show that you care and keep a speaking relationship with your teacher, you are good. If you never email or ask them any questions (outside of class) you are on your own and they don't care much about you.

There are hundreds and hundreds of computers all over the school in the labs and classrooms, with quick internet access and unlimited printing capabilities.

Parking is completely terrible on weekdays from 10am-1pm, but they are building new parking lots this summer.

Basically, if you are undecided about whether you want to be at Raritan Valley, it is a great way to get those undecided years out of the way at a low price, and a good transition from high school to college.

This is a terrific place to start your four year degree. Save money and get incredible professors. Class sizes are small. The campus is nice, but could be a bit less corporate...not the usual "college" feel.

Quite Bright
Raritan Valley Community College is ironically just the opposite of that. It is a community college without any sense of community or society at all. It is merely a gathering of passing students who intend to transfer or generally spend 2 years taking classes toward an associates degree. RVCC is and sure feels like a social free college, it lacks suffeicent clubs, activities, and resources for it to even be consider as a college which encourages the overall growth of the student body. Caring and seemingly dedicated professors are few and far between, but they are there. Perhaps the only positive and deciding factor of RVCC students is the incredibly cheap tution. Raritan Valley Community College is for you if you need a cheap 2-year school or need a transition school from highschool to college.
