The Nursing program at this school is very cut throat, the faculy make it seem as though they are better than you because they are Nurses. To give anyone out there info about how the courses are graded is horrifying. The 1st semester Nur 101 you get about 3-4 exams for the semester and it counts for 85% of your final grade. 15% is for clinicals, journals, homework, quizzes, etc. The second semester the exams count for 90% and 10% for everything else. So anyone can see that failing one exam can determined whether you move on or not. I don't know if any other nursing school grades as hard as Clinton but the few I heard about seemed fair. I studied my ass off 9 hours a day 7 days a week and still failed. The professor would tell you to read 9 chapters (averaging at 100-120 pages) for an exam of 50 questions and 40-45 questions gets pulled from one chapter WHAT THE F***! What happened to the other 8 chapters? Its definately an elimination process to keep their state board average high. Every year Clinton community college takes 70 students into the nursing program and only 30-35 makes it, don't believe me?? check out the NYS board of Nursing pass rates. They're only there to take your money not to help you become a Nurse.

If you care for a college experience CCC is not the way to go. The off campus housing is a mile from campus. The teachers practically spoon feed the information to students making for the classes to be very easy and not challenging at all. Being a Math Science major there should be a certain level of difficulty which is practically non existent. I have a bachelors degree already and am going here because of the price. I would have liked for the teachers to get right into the information rather than spend 3 classes on rules and the basics that should have been taught in high school. The standards of the classes need to go up. The school also should get rid of the attendence policy. I am taking a class where teaching myself is working better than paying attention to the professor. Why should one when paying for the education be mandated to attend a class that is being taught poorly?
