Quite Bright
Before students decide to pass up on Brooklyn College based on the reviews here, they should really pay attention to what people are saying and their grammar. If you cannot spell correctly....no wonder why you are not enjoying school. Brooklyn college is not the school you expect when going for the "college experience" because most students live in the area. BUT, after attending a few classes, appreciating the surrounding beauty, meeting creative and intelligent people, you start to love it. Of course there are students, professors and faculty who have attitude. That being said, Brooklyn college has real people. They do not sugar coat their staff because students are paying $40,000 a year for it. They give you real professors for real students. Brooklyn college lacks in student spirit and activities mainly because most people here have jobs or outside entertainment. There is a greek life, clubs, and activities that are quite enjoyable, but it is not as present as other schools are. Academically, school is challenging. You have professors that are easier than others, but even they can challenge you. I really enjoy going here. The school is not perfect, there are many flaws...but it is real and a good match for me. I hope that other people can reflect a good light on the school as well- the students here definitely deserve it.

I like the campus but the courses like the core classes is really annoying their so long and some of them don't make any sense to me just a waist of time and money. The SEEK department needs to stop lying about what they do to help students its a total joke. If you dont have enough money FASFA will help you..you dont need their extra few hundred bucks for them to treat you like your not a human.

Not so bright
Typical CUNY experience: Admissions is a nightmare. They'll lose, misplace or otherwise cause to disappear your paperwork and info. You may be accepted and then shelved an extra semester until you can start classes. They will not bother to accept 85% of your credits, even if they are from another CUNY. Ask me how I know this. Facilities are a haphazard mix of new and ancient. Even the new buildings are spottily maintained. Cafeteria is a dungeon that needs a paint job. Like NYC, the school is segregated as hell- Students are mildly more friendly than at other CUNYs, but still idiotic, close-minded and clannish in the main though. No student life to speak of. Commuter school all the way. Professors are either clueless adjuncts with no pedagogical skill or arrogant middle-aged burnouts going through the motions. Educational quality is low overall in liberal arts, not much better in sciences.I tried to make the most of it, but it just...sucks. Sorry.
