Hunter is very much a commuter school. It is up to you to make of it what you want to. I had an awesome group of classmates who made the experience tons of fun despite sometimes dull or long classes. Well worth the experience and time.

Hunter College, despite its great reputation, does not offer a service that is the required standard of an institution of this magnitude. The staff are untrained and often give out wrong information, which has cost me alot of time. they are very unhelpful and unwilling to take the time to listen to concerns. You are expected to know the routine and regulations before you even begin, even though the catalogue itself is very confusing. This college, unfortunately, is only there for the money and aim to maintain your confused state in order to keep you there as long as humanly possible. With only 3 credits per class, it is very stressful for those starting out or who are confused about the Amerian system itself. I wish I could say something good about the college but it brought me to the point, at one stage to thinking I didn't want to go to college anymore. ADVICE? Know what you are getting into. Research EVERY detail before you even apply and NEVER take anyones word alone for anything. They have a habit of losing transcripts, etc so make sure EVERYTHING you hand in is photocopied and you keep a track of dates and any authorized people you speak to.

I LOVE Hunter. If you're looking for a typically "college experience" with fraternities and sororities and ra ra ra, its not the place for you. If you want to be challenged, if you want to think, if you want more than a piece of paper that says you've completed college, if you're on a budget and want to meet people from diverse backgrounds, consider Hunter. People say students are "antisocial". I have never found this to be the case, but I'd say that people come here to work hard and learn. I've had amazing teachers at Hunter, I would not go anywhere else.
