The selection of my
The selection of my field during collage was social work.
I should have known all the different areas I could have worked in (schools, hospital etc.) High schools students should be required to do volunteer work in the area they would like to major in first before selecting their major.

Lehman is what you make of it.BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
Lehman is what you make of it. If you go there to get your degree and to go to 13th grade, the professors will not waste their time on you. However, if you make yourself and your goals known to the faculty they will go out of their way to challenge you and to make sure every academic door to your future is open to you. My experience? The faculty is not often asked to go the extra mile for the mediocre student who are going there just because they want an easy degree. Can you go through that school like that? Sure! But it would be a waste of some very good oppurtunites, resources and excellent faculty.Unfortunately it's resources rarely used by its students. Personally, I think Lehman should be more selective in its admission process, but overall the professors are 1st rate but underappreciated by both faculty and students. I've had oppurtunity to go to a "better" school but the education and attention I recieved from my professors at Lehman was worth more.

Lehman College is, simply put, a safety school.Quite BrightComputer Science
Lehman College is, simply put, a safety school. This is where you should end up only if you can't afford to (or didn't have the grades) to get into a better college. While this is an accredited, four-year college, it is largely unknown outside of the city of New York (a sometimes deciding factor for employers as name recognition helps). Bright and talented students will feel out of place surrounded by mostly C-avg. High School graduates. I personally was in an English class where one of my classmates could not formulate whole sentences. During my time here, I did not participate in extracurricular activities because I saw no point in it, the college didn't emphasize it, or both. Administration is very catty but they won't give you a hard time, however it is obvious that these people don't necessarily like their jobs. The campus itself is small and there isn't much to see. The surrounding neighborhood is no better. The college only offers housing to international students if I remember correctly. I can comfortably say that at least 80% of the student body is comprised of in-state students and at the end of each day, everyone goes home(just like high school, remember?). To those unfortunate enough to end up here (like this undergrad), do what I did and maintain a high GPA then transfer to a better university. Those looking for the true college experience, look elsewhere. Those who don't really care about a quality education and just want to go somewhere cheap and close to home, this is the school for you.
