| Quite Bright | I went to this place because I had no choice. I can't believe I'm done with this crap. This is the worst school in the Worls. Passing is nearly impossible. Professors intentionally fail you and there's nothing you can do about it. almost EVERYONE fails. Nursing is TORTURE. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. Students are bad and to make a long story short: THIS PLACE (really really really) SUCKS! | Surrounding City: A-, Education Quality: F | | | |

| Not so bright |
I find it surprising that there haven't been any recent reviews, positive or otherwise. There should be a few things anyone who's interested in BMCC or any other CUNY college should try to keep in mind:
1) No college will magically make you love it or learning.
You'll find the faculty here to be great as well as the students, decor, location, and student resources but none of that matters if you come into BMCC thinking it will be an easy ride or that you won't have to care. Expect to care and have the right habits to pass your classes. (If you don't have them, get them. The school has programs to advise you and help you get into swing of college.)
2) You'll understand people who understand you.
Most of the faculty here works in the real world and aren't going to be teaching you from a textbook or behind a wall of notes. Always be up front with your professor and you'll get an education you can relate as well as a mutual understanding that you can build on.
3) The median student age is 24.
Not only does the faculty work but so do many of the students. Don't expect this to be a lazy commuter school or a college pretending to be a stuffy frat house. You'll meet other students who have life experience and the maturity to help you out. If you want to make friends, you'll soon notice that a little bit of maturity and an ambition to make something of yourself go a long way.
4) You're going to a small town.
There are 6 locations for BMCC across Manhattan with a big library, huge cafeteria, pool, gym, basketball court, not to mention the many new computer labs. You'll forget that you're in a commuter 2-year college sometimes.
The main campus is two buildings so remember that room numbers can sometimes have a north and south version. The other large campus you have to worry about is the one at Murray Street which is several floors and new with dozens of computers.
5) Always stay on top of the paperwork. When you've got over 19,000 students and another 10,000 in distance learning, lines will be long no matter what. Take care of your Financial Aid, testing requirements, and registration as early as you can. Once you've been registered for the first time, you can register for your class in any semester after that using Panther, the online registration tool. | Campus Maintenance: A+, Faculty Accessibility: C+

| Super Brilliant |
Its funny how one of the first questions asked was about my year of graduation...In all reality my time of graduation was supposed to be Spring 06' but turned out to be Fall 07' because BMCC 'truly' cares for their 'star pupils.'
BMCC is a school that is abundant in oppertunities, but no one ever tells you that if you really do work hard, have an overall GPA of 3.9, AND receive every honor imaginable, that in the end it will all amount to nothing.
I was one of BMCC's brightest. I got awards, straight A's, even went as far as getting into the Vassar program. When it was all over and I came back expecting my diploma, what I got was a handful of classes I didnt need, because nobody cared to transfer my credits. I didnt get a pat on the back, and had to fight for recommendations to schools I didnt get into. All the promises that were made, fell through right before my eyes. Do you know where I am now? In Hunter college, where your average joe schmoe belongs. I went through hell to be the best, only to wind up with the rest. The people that I admired, wound up being nothing more than miserable adjuncts bringing bread and butter to work. I thought I had made some friends, that I played my cards right without fraudulent networking. I was wrong.
The faculty smile at you, but forget you once you step out the door. The classes are bs, sometimes all you had to do was know how to spell the word, "didn't" and you'd be on your way to the top. BMCC uses you, they will lie to you just to get you to stay in a certain dept. and I can freely say that because outside of my departments door a list of colleges is listed to which students have been accepted. Smith, Vassar, Stanford, etc. They mention nothing about the little guys who drowned in the process. They also dont mention the tricks one has to perform in order to be one of the 'big guys' which include various favors if you know what I mean.
The Vassar program was a waste of time and lie.
You dont get money to go to school and you dont get into NYU unless you get into bed first. I started off an enthusiastic, happy go lucky writer, where I am now, I really cant say. | Surrounding City: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: F
