feelings for professors are generally mixed, mostly bad. most of the students act bitchy, are loud, can't even concentrate on my work cause of them. don't apply here

I was only at FIT for a year and I transferred to a UC school. Anyway, FIT has the WORST staff. the adminstration, every single one except one woman, are so incredibly rude, they don't give a crap about the students, they just want to get paid. So, if you ever have a question about credits, security, housing, careers, anything. . . prepared to leave the office wanting to either cry or hit somebody. I personally didn't like my classes because I was in the wrong major, I was merchandising management but should have been in fashion illustration. When I decided i wanted to switch my major I was told I'd have to re-apply completely and none of my credits would transfer, and I had to take a year off so that I could begin the curriculum in the falll. so, if you want to go to fit, BE POSITIVE THAT THE MAJOR YOUR APPLYING FOR IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!!! I think there is lots of talent at FIT, but LOTS of untalented people too. the reason I'm rating my experience neutral instead of poor is because having FIT on my resume has definitely helped me get jobs. Also, in the city you can easily make really great connections, FIT allows you to volunteer at fashion week, and they can help you get internships.

I returned to school for a second degree as an adult student and although I have no problem achieving good grades I am unispired creatively and feel the treatment of all students, by everyone from the faculty of the Interior Design Dept, to the registration office, to the security gaurds is rude and condescending. It speaks to their insecurity and arrogance and is unhelpful in any adedemic situation.

Some of the professor are great teachers and some really suck. A lot of fellow students are whiners and the staff gives into them too often resulting in a slow paced , unchallenging atmosphere.
Very unfriendly to weekend/evening students, especially those that are there for a second degree. The chair of the communication design department is very unfriendly and inflexible.
