Their required curriculum was ridiculous. It's called Curriculum 21 and it is useless. If you dont believe me than you should contact them and have them send you some literature on it. The professors that teach the classes are even more ridiculous. They are very thorough about these asinine topics they teach. When I attended Hartwick I also played football. They got me to go there by feeding me these empty promises but I am not bitter about that. They treated me like garbage because I was not from upstate unlike the majority of the team. I read a review on this website that hit the nail on the head and it basically described Hartwick College as a stepping stone.(If your family has the boat load of money needed for you to attend) Use the place to experience the partying that goes on in college and then go elsewhere. The school is a joke like its curriculum and the buffoons that teach their.

Not so bright
I found Hartwick to be a easy college. Everyone here is from upstate New York. The only things to do on the weekends are to get drunk in sketchy frat basements. There is nothing to do in Oneonta. Literally nothing.

One positive thing is the the faculty are wonderful, and helpful. You are treated like a individual. But the courses are too easy, and the business programs a joke.

I transfered out of Hartwick, for me and many others Hartwick is a great stepping stone to a legitimate college. I hadn't done very well in high school, but easily got a 3.8 GPA at Hartwick. Making colleges extremely easy to transfer to.

Hartwick is great for people from Upstate New York, who think they are smart because they were in the top ten percent of their class of 13 in some school in the middle of nowhere. But if you are from an area with actually good public high schools, and even are in the lower 25% hartwick will seem like a joke. My community College and high school were both harder than Hartwick College. Heres my Advice, if you can't get in any schools you want to, go to Hartwick. Get a good GPA and transfer out, ASAP.

Quite Bright
Financial aid - they'll give it to you but they CONSTANTLY screw up in the office and you have to sign about a billion papers and call a billion people to get it fixed. They deny tenure/fire professors seemingly at random, they don't keep their buildings up to snuff (constant water main breaks, heat is on ALL the time, but they tell you you're not allowed to open the windows). In general climate control is a nightmare. Snow removal (before classes start) is non-existant. I have fallen so many times I cannot even keep count. One good thing about this school - excellent for studying abroad, but it doesn't make up for the lack of EVERYTHING in all the other areas. I should have transferred when I had the chance.
