Sort By: [Date] [Major] [Rating] Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc  Major Salary, Salary Trend, Satisfaction, Unemployment Quite Bright The school is pretty from the outside but on the inside it's very bland! ugly, and old looking, aside from the modern and nice looking addition to the bookstore and library. The school is very secretive and never lets students know when free activities are going down or they won't mention that you have to pay! Every activity that I have tried to go to they get you with that 5$ entrance fee. There are clubs however the 3 that I joined to nothing but sit around gossip and eat lunch. Students and Teachers at this school are very interested in food and free stuff. The school will do anything to keep as much of your financial aid as they can. Also don't live on campus unless you want to get stabbed, raped, held at gun point, beat up, or want to join a gang. The school doesn't show any pictures of what it looks like with snow but I assure you there is a foot of snow at least from october-mid april, also our school likes to put kids in danger and never gives a snow day. The teachers are very unhelpful, and can never be found when you need them... or go to their office hours. They are very unprofessional and only care about going to lunch, instead of doing their job. The students are completely oblivious to the real world, and always focused on partying. Most of them never show up to class, b/c they are too hung over from the party they went it, and end up dropping out. location- besides wal-mart, there is nothing to do. The nearest mall is 30 mins away! if you're looking for a town with great shops, herkimer aint it. also, it snows like you wouldn't believe. we just got an inch of snow in april! it's also very rare to get a snow day, even with a foot of snow on the ground. dorms- both on campus, and off campus dorms suck. the only difference is that off campus is safer. shootings, and attempted rapes have happened on campus. social actives - unless you love to smoke and drink 24/7, you will be bored. The school really has nothing to off the students social wise, b/c it's never open. do you like slacking off? do you love getting bad grades? do you desperately want to go away for school, just to get out from under your parents wing? if you answered 'yes' to any of these questions... herkimer is the place for you. just don't expect to succeed in life// anywhere besides herkimer. I actually can't wait to return I have a 3.4 gpa and I still went to parties and had fun yes it a party school but as a student you have to be able to balance it all out I love it everyone is nice and the teachers are friendly and I cant wait to go back in 3 weeks. Herkimer also has a lot of programs for the students that are free like housing across the street from the school have many events to keep the tudents entertain. So for anyone who attended and didnt like the school they were close minded and didnt like the school before they got theere. Collaboration/Competitive: A+, Education Quality: F Have a Question? It is in the middle of nowhere. The only "hot spots" in Herkimer are the college itself, the local wal-mart and two bars - Brownies and Johnny C's( Or it could be Jimmy C's, I dont remember, nor do I really care). The dorms are disgusting. The dorms are apartment style, but they look like a low-income housing project. The RA's will rat you out! This is how they pick RA's: They get some Poor kid and offer him/her a free dorm room, in exchange they have to rat out there fellow students. At herkimer, underage (and Over-age for that matter) drinking are almost considered felonys. You get three alcahol "write-ups" and they kick you out of housing. The Campus Security Guards are losers who couldnt make it as real cops, this angers them, and they take this anger out on the students. Dating is almost non-existant. Decent Looking Girls are only interested in Rich Boys or Guys who are members of soccer or lacrosse team. The only upside to Herkimer is most (not all) teachers are easy graders, due to the fact they unexpiernced and untenured. Have a Question?
