Long Island University is very expensive and getting your Master's Degree is more expensive. They do not have alot of social work teachers. If you are a social work major you will get a Bachelor of Arts degree which has nothing to do with social work. My social service job asked to see my degree. My supervisor said he thought my degree said Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Long Island University needs to change this. The degree needs to say Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree and it is hard for me to find a social work job. I did not know that I was going to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. No one told me. Go to a school that will give you a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work which will make it easier to find a job. I moved to another state and I can not find a job with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I payed all that money for nothing just to get a Bachelor of Arts degree which is like having a liberal arts degree.

Stay far far away fro LIU Brooklyn. I went as an out of state student and basically was a minority as a white person which the other students made a point by calling me "the white girl" all year.

Students and faculty are so so ghetto and trashy.
The tuition is insanity and you could graduate CUNY 7x for the price. Everyone there was majoring in pharmacy. Its called a private school but you might find more quality at BMCC and thats not saying much.

As for dorm life forget about living at Conolly Hall its disgusting. 3am fire drills every other night in the winter because of people smoking weed.

There were times when feces was in the shower!!!!
I didn't learn anything in my year before I transfered accept how I threw 40 grand down the toilet.

Coming into the school as a freshman, I was VERY excited. Once I stepped foot on campus the first day of classes, that excitement quickly turned to disappointment. The first week of class, there was no classes because the faculty decided to protest. What a nice time to decide to protest when Im paying over 30 thousand dollars a year for an education. Majority (however not all) of the professors are only concerned with their jobs and aren't concerned whether their students achieve or not. There is a lot of diversity however a lot of the students seem to only associate with their clique (Usually other students of the same race) which upset me. My advisor gave me classes that had nothing to do with my major, which I couldn't withdraw from without screwing up my financial aid. You can NEVER get an appointment with financial aid during the year for some strange reason and they also NEVER answer phones. Female restrooms are often nasty and I hate it. The classrooms are often extremely cold or extremely hot, I don't understand why I'm again paying over 30 thousand dollars NOT to have heat or air conditioning. This school is a total mess and I would not recommend anyone going here. Not even for Pharmacy or Nursing. Don't waste your time or money.
