July 1, 2002, Marymount College consolidated with Fordham University to
create a new model of a women's Catholic college, one
that enjoys the academic and administrative resources of a major
university while retaining the character of a small liberal arts
college. The new school, with strengthened religious and intellectual traditions, is called Marymount College of Fordham University. Founded in 1841,
Fordham is New York City's Jesuit University, enrolling approximately 14,000
students among its 10 undergraduate, graduate and professional schools. Approximately
900 women attend Marymount College of Fordham University, the University's
