One Of My complaints is the New York City campus, it isn't so good . However, the college acquired a bigger and better building downtown in the city and my expectations are great.

I attended Nyack College 2007-2011 and went for Early Childhood Education.
First, I will address the Education department. Everyone is really nice and so helpful. But by the time you get to Student teaching, you will feel like you have learned nothing. It's an easy college to slide on by without gaining the knowledge you need in the classroom. In the Early Childhood program, you study more on pre-school. We had to create 1 unit for 2nd grade which everyone in my class failed our 2nd grade unit because we were not taught it and our teacher claimed that 2nd graders can't read.

BEING INVOLVED ON CAMPUS: There are small groups. Barely anyone uses the Bible in their small group. I did attend a small group that was all bible study based until that person graduated and then there was no bible study group. If you want to be involved in leadership at Nyack College, It is who you KNOW that will get you in. if you are a NOBODY, you wont get in. You wont get in spiritual formation or the worship team unless you are buddy buddy bff's with people.

It is a diverse campus. You will notice that certain ethnic people will only talk with people of the same race and/or language.

Be careful who you are friends with. Find the true godly Christians on-campus. Stick with them. Grow together. Without that, you will get lost in the shuffle. Plenty of people at Nyack claim to be Christian and are in leadership but are out partying, getting drunk, going to bars, having sex with married people, smoking hookahs. Its a bunch of nonsense. so LOOK for the TRUE Christians. FIND a prayer buddy. You will need it. Take advantage of the free counciling services on campus. It's AMAZING. IT WILL HELP YOU GROW AND CHANGE.

Remember to always stand for what you believe in. Everyone has different beliefs at Nyack, there will be plenty of debates at the lunch table. Stand your ground and stay true to who you are and what you stand for. If you pray in tongues, PRAY IN TONGUES! Dont let your friends or Nyack College hold you down from that! Pray in your room! Pray in the spirit in your room. People condemn that in chapel, they will look at you funny. But if that is a gift God has given you, USE IT! Who cares! USE IT! Dont stop because of what other people think! I cant stress that enough.

If you are looking to work on campus, APPLY THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL. The cafeteria is a good place to start. Every year you get a raise. It's easy. It's 3-4 hour shifts. DO IT. APPLY ASAP. Go straight in the back where the cooks are and ask for an application. It's hard to get into working at the library or admissions. so, I suggest the cafe. I worked in the cafe.

I had a bad experience at Nyack because I picked the wrong friends and every year I changed my friends and kept a few. I wanted people that had a deep relationship with God, people who will actually grow with me and there are some that I found. I found a girl that had the same beliefs as me and we talked and hung out and prayed together and vented about how people dont believe in tongues. and That friend of mine passed away at Nyack but her life will always be remembered and I'm thankful that I had her in my life because she was the only one at Nyack that really truly understood me and I understood her. So find a friend like that. They are keepers.

BE CAREFUL WHO YOU PICK AS A ROOMMATE. BFF's dont always make the best roommates. Decide if your friendship is worth the risk of living together. I learned that the hard way. Sometimes, friends just dont make good roommates.

I only went to Nyack for one semester and I had to transfer. Some of you may think oh every college will have negative comments, but this is not the case Nyack really is THAT BAD. Firstly the food sucks. The dorm rooms are pretty bad and the entire residential buildings are pathetic. I went to Nyack to deepen my faith and I left Nyack never wanting to enter another church. Before you consider going to Nyack ask yourself if perhaps going to a Christian college will deter your faith. Religion is pretty much shoved down your throat. Chapel 3 times a week, theology courses, narrow-minded students and small groups. I had a really hard time making friends and left Nyack with only 2 true friends. In reality I am a very sociable person and never have had the problem of making friends. The social life is absolutely DEAD. I went into college thinking that I didn't want to party, drink, etc. but there is literally NOTHING TO DO. If you are thinking of going to Nyack College I beg you to reconsider, hoping that I may save you from the crap I had to put up with.
