Positive Negative Neutral Advice
The administration is so bad.
The administration is so bad. The staff at Office of Registrar are very arrogant and unwilling to help students. There is nothing going on near Troy. The downtown is full of boarded houses and buildings. The area suffers a lot from economic decay and crimes. I would never want to visit this area again.

In the field, it is hard to seeArchitecture
In the field, it is hard to see how college has either help or hurt me because it helped me by changing my view of what hard work really was but hurt my confidence. This school has many positives and negatives. The Campus is absolutely beautiful and even the surrounding areas if you take the time to look around and find them. The people there can be very fun to be around and everyone seems to have something of value to bring to the table. The is what I would believe to be a normal amount of racism and prejudice for a college, which does not make it okay. I am just saying its not out of the norm to be harassed by public safety, make fun of for being different, or ignored and put into the loser category just because of your race here. My classmate even made a music video that touches on it, . People always talk poorly of Troy, however it is what you make it in many regards. If you go to RPI, you should try not to let people's foul mood ruin your experience with Troy. The educational side of RPI is great! There are both good and bad professors, however I have had many professors that were amazing; level headed, caring, excepting, and extremely knowledgeable. I haven't yet decided what I fully think of my experience at RPI, but when I do, I will come back and post it.

Honestly, I am a freshman and I doQuite BrightComputer Science
Honestly, I am a freshman and I do not regret going here. I am somewhat biased since I got a very nice scholarships and am doing particularly well so far, but there really isn't much to not enjoy. A lot of people will complain about the social life or gender ratio, but these are really just ways of people to express their frustration with themselves at not leaving their rooms. Is that their fault? Yes, completely. RPI has a very active campus, especially if you join Greek Life. While there are good and bad frats, Greek Life is not like at other schools in that there will be very smart brothers that have fun on the weekends and study hard during the week. I wouldn't want to go to any other school. The professors have been really amazing too, great quality of education comparable to an Ivy League school. Google doesn't hold career workshops at just any college, nor does every other Fortune 500 company that hires here.
