A great place to surround yourself with knowledgeMechanical Engineering
A great place to surround yourself with knowledge and improve yourself in many ways. Don't go here to be entertained. You will get a ton of work, but its all good in the hood. The advent of laptops everywhere has allowed some students to enjoy the outdoors. Some students' idea of getting outside is to have a network game outside. You can only laugh. This is made possible because of the plethora of laptops and hubs. Greek life is pretty big, as is the ratio of frats to sororities. At RPI you are surrounded by geeks and nerds but don't let that fool you. More students are involved in a sport than aren't. Some crazy a$$ stuff goes on in Troy on any given Friday. There are actually some girls, but they aren't always distinguishable from the guys. Still better than RIT though.

Honestly I can't really complain about my social life here. All you have to do go out and put some effort into meeting people and you will (however most of them will be male). The classes aren't extremly hard but can challenge on ocassion. Ultimately the thing I would complain most about is the price of attending for those of us who recieve no financial aid. If you can afford it you couldn't do a whole lot better.Oh yes, another complaint is that the surrounding city really is a slummy place.

Question
People are very busy here persuing their careers.Quite BrightComputer Engineering
People are very busy here persuing their careers. Social life and people come second; thus the fraternity system. There is plenty of opportunity and resources for students, but you might have to look for it. If you enjoy working hard for the rewards, this is the place for you. This is a tough place to grow up and learn to be an adult; you will not find too much sympathy. You can definately have a fun time here by doing whatever it is that you like- this is how to meet people and have fun at RPI.
