I did not originally want to come toBrightChemistry
I did not originally want to come to this school for no particular reason other than I just wanted to go somewhere else. However I am the type of person that doesn't like changing locale. Now that I am here I really dont want to go ( not because I love it here). This school is whatever but what makes it more on the meh side is the cost. This university will cost you an arm and a leg to attend when there are cheaper schools else-where that offer you more. I have no idea why this school is so expensive and if I could give you any advice it would be to carefully watch financial aid, they will charge you ridiculous fees from no where. Activity fees, New Student fees, Lab fees, Payment plan fees, Damage deposits, "General" fees, they will even charge you fees for taking a global language when it's required to take a global language! This school wants nothing from you but your money. And it is proven that tuition costs go up each year by 1-3% One year your tuition will be 57,985 and the next 58,400 or something ridiculous like that. By time I graduate tuition will literally be over 60k. And a word to the wise, financial aid changes every year, the grants you get freshmen year you will probably not get sophomore. I am a freshman and recieved almost 10,000$ in grants which I will have to pay for out of pocket or in loans next year. I dont want to leave becasue Im comfortable but what can you do? No bachelors in the world is worth being 120-130,000$ in debt.

St. Johns is a perfect balance for me.AveragePreMed and Medical
St. Johns is a perfect balance for me. Im a white girl from upstate who enjoys her social life but can be a bio major at the same time. St. johns is not for everyone though. Its the type of school where you make the best out of it. If you sit around and complain that theres no crazy parties you obviously dont know you can go out to the city which is about a half hour away enjoy your surroundings. Jamaica queens may not be the best neighborhood in queens but the surrounding neighborhoods are quite enjoyable once you explore them. If you take time to take advantage of all the free events st johns has to offer then you'll really like the school. If your nervous about meeting people i 100% guarantee that you'll meet your best friends here. Its so diverse that it wont be a problem finding friends just like you. The school has a bad rep for being "Ghetto" but im sorry you wont find a school anywhere in new york with out a little swag. As for the education part, being a science major is tough here as a majority of students here come for that. Classes are small so you get one one one time with your professors which is key is getting good grades.
