Most people either love it or hate it

Most people either love it or hate it here.
What sucks- the food, sporting events, greek life, cops, and overwhelmingly dirty hippies.what's cool- the rest. New Paltz is pretty chill for the most part. If you like to party there are many (including tuesday nights cus there aint no school on wednesdays). frat/sorority houses usually suck, but after a few weeks you'll find out where you like to go (there's a wide variety). People are mad friendly, everyone is (or thinks they are) a musician, professors are great. lots of cool places to hike, bike, or just roam's got some cool shops and places to eat... yeah, you should come hang out with me here.

I transferred to New Paltz after a year

I transferred to New Paltz after a year at another upstate SUNY school. I really like New Paltz so far. I'll be a junior this fall. The elementary ed program is pretty good; the teachers are competent and helpful. The school isn't very transfer friendly - there's no on campus housing for transfers and it's hard to get involved when you live off campus. Other than that, the people are very friendly, the campus is nice, and the town is fun and accessible. The majority of students seem very happy to be at New Paltz.

New Paltz is a wonderful school

May 24 2012Education
New Paltz is a wonderful school. I decided to attend at the last minute, and I am glad I did. I'm an education major, and if you are looking for a top notch education program, you will get it at New Paltz. The School of Education building just received a multi-million dollar renovation that will enhance learning. The campus and town are beautiful, and there is a lot of things to do (especially if you like nature)... rockclimbing, hiking, etc. While the food on-campus is not the greatest, there is a selection of places to get food on campus, but if you get the munchies at 1am, don't expect to find anything open. Selection is not the best on the weekends or late at night (half the food venues are closed then, and all are closed after midnight). Overall, my experience at New Paltz for the past 3 years has been GREAT. The faculty are outstanding and incredibly helpful. Education is a lot of work, but you will learn A LOT and will be able to use it in student teaching & in the future. I hate the idea that I will be graduating next year. I will miss this place for sure.
