 | Average | | I am warning you do not go go this wretched shit hole of a school. After two years of being here i am grateful to god that i am transferring to a REAL university. To break it down for you, oswego is a frigid, wet, dull, and extremely windy hick town in the middle of nowhere. 90% of the people who go here are all white upstate kids who all look the same and shop for clothes at places like tj max and walmart. If you are from new york city or anywhere remotely interesting, trust me you will be depressed here. The extracirricular activities are extremely bland, nobody here is serious about anything and the faculty treats you like youre ten years old. The night life here sucks. The frat houses are all small, disgusting, and about to fall apart. Their parties start around 9 and end at 11 due to the fact that they are ALWAYS out of beer because they are too cheap to compensate for everyone and only buy one keg. From there people just head straight to the bars, so if you arent 21, or have a fake, well, youre fucked. As far as the school itself goes, well, its not too great either. The whole campus is boring, ugly, and usually dead. Most of the professors here really could care less about you and nobody is interesting or even somewhat intellectually stimulating. People who want to go out and have a social life are forced tolive in the disgusting, small, horribly, maintained dorms on west campus while all the really weird people who stay in their rooms all day live in the somewhat nice buildings on the other part of campus. The food is terrible too. All in all i have nothing positive to say about oswego, it got really old really fast, probably within the first two months of being in this miserable place. | Perceived Campus Safety: B+, Useful Schoolwork: F | | | |

Okay i have lots to say about SUNY Oswego. I dont beleieve in discouraging you from coming here only telling you the facts. Night Life Lets start off with this since this is what most people care about. THERE are parties every week most of the time. yes a contranidction. The school is frat- dominated , meaning if you want to have fun you are most likely going into a frat party. However here is a typical frat party, balls to walls crowded, a majority arent sausage fest, they try to take advatange of you and charge 5 dollars at the door but kick you out of 10min later if it is filled or ran out of beer (which is often ). The goal of most party throwers is to get as much people in, tell people there are like 5 kegs. Then lie about the amount they have left and go to the bars. Oh Yeah an Oswego party starts @ 9 PM 9/10 TIMES AND ENDS AT 12 AM 8/10 TIMES You will have to search high and low for a party, and some house parties are hard to come by. Some of the best parties are on the main road which is crawling with cops. The only way you would get drunk if you 'pregame' because you are only getting 2 beers if you leave for a party at 9 and 7 if you leave at 830. Minority If you are a minority in oswego good luck. Unless you can cut hair or find someone in the school, your ceasar it going to be an afro. The Black frat try hard too make the stay here fun. But it is a dead cause. Dont get me wrong they do ALOT of events , but if are used to dubbing at a party or club you will miss it. There are no urban or popping clucbs in Oswego nor the surrounding area. Sometimes they have a night like once a month , but you will need a ride.It also seemed by the middle of October everything slowed down. I am not looking forward to the Spring semester due to all the fucking snow and dickheads | Perceived Campus Safety: A, Campus Aesthetics: D- | | | |

| | Bright | I'm currently a freshman and i've been here 8 weeks or so and i'm ready to transfer. It seems that a lot of kids here came here as a last resort which was the situation for me. Oswego the town is so dead. The campus is vibrant though since it is right by lake Ontario and everyone is friendly. There is nothing to do in town since there are just bars and places to eat. The food is sub par. The centro bus system is convenient but there are only three buses that go into syracuse only three times a day. It is free for Oswego students only 3/7 days of the week otherwise it costs 5.00. There are frat parties virtually every weekend. If you're an intelligent person who doesn't like cold frigid weather, DO NOT come here. Financial aid is terrible too. | Perceived Campus Safety: A, Surrounding City: D- | | | |
