Quite Bright
The major I am in is pretty good since it is preparing me for graduate school and I am actually learning useful information. All the professors in my major have their PHDs. The professors in my Major are always there when I need them and they are always willing to sit and talk to you about your plans whether it be graduate school, internships or just course work. Most of the students at this school are more about partying than actually doing well in class (which is why they are the ones who are always complaining and failing exams). Campus life is blah; I have been here for almost 4 years and I have only met about a handful of hardworking & determined students. The campus is pretty far away from civilization. The food served in the cafeteria does not even deserve to be called food (it is gross) and there aren't many potions to choose from. The atmosphere is pretty negative since you are constantly reminded that this is not that great of a school by your fellow classmates (it gets annoying at times).

Super Brilliant
SUNY Old Westbury BY FAR employs the most useless, lazy, unwilling to help staff I have ever come across in my life. They are less helpful and motivated than foreign customer service agents that work in outsourced facilities for American companies. They are derogatory and rude, and that's if you can even get them to answer a question/letter/email. I moved out of state only to realize that outside of snotty Long Island, people actually help. I will NEVER return to or recommend Old Westbury. They did not help me with a job at all either - no career development whatsoever.

Bright
This certainly isn't the best SUNY school out there but despite all the negatives there are quite a number of positives. Yes, a lot of the students there are loud, obnoxious, inconsiderate, and immature but it's college...There are also a lot of students there who want to succeed, better themselves and go on to grad school/strive for their goals. For those people who're saying things like students here look like they belong in prison and that they aren't going to get anywhere in life...that's just plain rude first of all. Second, everyone at Old Westbury or any college in general is there for a reason, otherwise they'd just settle with having a high school diploma. The school itself isn't the fanciest or cleanest place ever but they are improving. Overall, this is a school for the "not so bright" who want to get somewhere in life (at least they're trying) or for those like me who transferred here to start new, build and maintain an amazing gpa with minimal effort to apply to grad school with. If you want the typical college experience with parties and a ton of stuff to do then I wouldn't recommend it but there IS something for everyone at OW, it's just what YOU make of your own college experience. As for the staff, they have been helpful when I needed them; they're just regular people, they aren't purposely trying to make your lives harder, sometimes they're just BUSY. I've been there for 2 semesters and I have yet to encounter a "self-absorbed" or arrogant professor who simply does not care. All 7 of the professors I've had so far I would definitely take again because they teach clearly and they will try their best to help you if you go to them with any questions. Maybe I was just lucky to have those professors, maybe not all of them are like that but I'm just saying what my experience was. If you graduated hs with a decent average and have a good SAT score, I would recommend you going to a more challenging school but Old Westbury is not the worst thing out there and I think it suits some people just fine.
