JUST READ!
I didn't want to come to Union initially. I had my mind set on a city school, but my parents decided Union would be a better fit. Coming here I made an immediate group of friends, however by the end of the year I was friends with a completely new set...that will happen here! Everyone is so nice, it is easy to find people you fit in with. I am extremely close to my friends at home but those relationships don't even compare to the ones I've made at Union. Never have I been so open and laughed harder with anyone in my entire life.
The classes are HARD! You really do need to be focused and motivated to do your work ahead of time otherwise it's easy to fall behind, especially with the rapid pace of the trimester system. Teachers expect you to put in your best, but are always willing to help to make sure you reach your fullest potential. If you work hard you will do well.
The are of Schenectady is NOT BAD! It has such an awful stereotype, however if you have your wits about you it's really not an unsafe place to be. State street is filled with great restaurants and lots of them deliver which is always great on the weekends. Having a car is nice, however not necessary. The social life is great, if you like to drink. There is always something fun to do, whether it be a frat party or a house party. The school would not be #13 party school in the country if it weren't fun. THe only down side is since that ranking campus safety "campo" has really picked up their game and are a lot more strict. Come to Union, get involved, and have an open mind. You will make great, long-lasting friendships, and recieve a valuable education that is both a best kept secret known by only the people and companies that matter. It is a BEAUTIFUL campus that you will be amazed by every day. It was honestly the best decision i've made in my entire life. | Education Quality: A+, Faculty Accessibility: B- | | | |

| Quite Bright | Union College is a fantastic school. I went to a really large high school so I decided to go out on a limb and try something different for college. So, I settled on Union and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I absolutely loved it there. The faculty are fantastic and (overly) approachable. They all have open office hours several times a week and its really not uncommon for a class to be invited over for dinner or to grab a cup of coffee with professors in the Campus Center. There are tons of things to do on campus (sports, intramurals, clubs, greek life, Minerva Houses, etc) and most most students are very approachable and friendly. Everyone finds their niche and something that interests them. Since its a small liberal arts school, its a nice community to receive an education in and everyone I know loved it there. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Surrounding City: B | | | |

| Quite Bright | Being a local, I have basically grown up on Union's campus, yet everytime I walk around it takes my breath away. The people here are amazingly friendly, yet quietly brilliant. There is an air of relaxed confidence that everyone can feel. The professors are awesome and accessible, and likely to give out their cell phone numbers or invite you to dinner. Major programs are flexible, with many opportunities to create a program specific to your needs or interests. Social life is diverse and ever-changing, with opportunities that range from Greek events, to Minerva house events, speakers, comedians, bands, local eateries, movies on campus, theatre productions, and campus-wide events. Spring term is off the hook. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Surrounding City: A- | | | |

| Quite Bright | I'm a sophomore at Union. I'm from the area but hadn't actually heard of Union until I became a junior in high school. The first time I walked on campus, I loved it. If I could have given the campus aesthetics higher than an A+, I would have. It's beautiful here all year round. The people are awesome, the professors are really accessible, the course load is manageable--challenging but plenty of time to have fun on campus. We're ranked #1 right now for campus activities, there's always an opportunity to do something. Academically, we have a variety of majors in everything from Engineering to East Asian Studies, and if you don't see one you want, you can make it yourself. The people here are friendly and open, there's a great sense of community and every time you walk around campus, you'll have students, faculty and staff waving hello. | Education Quality: A+, Surrounding City: A- | | | |
