Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I have read some of the posts inQuite BrightPsychology
I have read some of the posts in this forum and I was shocked1 the professors I have had until this present time, have provided challenging work, quizzes and classwork. Mr. Hamaoui, Mr. Skibo, Mr. Mitrione, Mr. Krozac. Mr. Thompson and Ms. Pickett to name just a few. They were all supportive of the students and tried to provide as much assistance as possible. However, their classes were not easy, you had to study and do the work.

There are quite a few adjuncts, which are just as challenging as the professors, but it is up to you to choose your classes. They also have the honors classes, through Phi Theta Kappa if you you require that extra challenge to avoid boredom.

The students are very nice and many sit within groups, so it is up to you to make friends. Either you are a social butterfly or you are not. It falls on you. They have many clubs, usually on Wednesdays and everyone is asked to join. They also have many activities, shows and even lectures if that is what you want. However, once again it is up to you to make yourself known.

The one thing that stands out in this beautiful campus, is the help provided to disabled scholars. There are quite a large number of disabled scholars and they have a support center for them that provides tutoring, as well as other services. There is also a food pantry for those in need. Overall. I believe that this college is what you make of it and it is up to you to provide the challenges you need, make friends, and learn tolerance of others.

Question
Good school.Not so bright
Good school. i just don't understand some of the complains from some people in this forum. at least on the science dept, if one didn't find it somewhat challenging, you either got a easy adjunct or they just dedicated themselves to take the easiest courses as possible during their school time. just saying! then everything else, everyone is spot on. no social life, drug crazy kids, hateful parking lot etc.

Question
The truth of it, in retrospect, that isUndecided
The truth of it, in retrospect, that is what I am going to try and give here. It's great as community colleges go, the quality of the education, is near the level I got attending one of the top state school. Now I suppose going there, I wasn't all to happy, it really is the fact you are going to "community college" that is pretty depressing. Also it can be hard to transfer out, to a really good school, as community college courses and grades aren't given to high respect. My advice regarding that, take night classes, taught by adjuncts (some of whom are really brilliant) do well, put the work in, participate, ask him or her for advice, and a recommendation. Learn.

I do wish I took part in more extra extracurriculars, clubs and all of that. That would be the main thing I would do differently, there, I was there again.

That's the good, on to the bad. While there are some genuinely very bright people who go here, motivated young people. There are allot of those who don't care, people who just sit through class, sometimes talk on their phone, or even nap. Some professorers, don't have a handle on their subject, or the class they are teaching. It's a commuter campus, and I can say, I do very much wish I had my freshman experience, at a more conventional school. Would I go there again, if I had to do it over, no, probably not. Should you, if you can go to a "real college" do that. Or even take a gap year to find yourself, and then apply to a four year school. Am I glad I had the chance to met some smart people, and take some great classes, yes. Heck sometimes I get nostalgic over it.
