 | | I am thinking about going to CCAD and I see so many mixed reviews from people and it is just hilarious. Most of you say it is a terrible school because you have a lot of work to do? The reason you pay to go to college is not to party and skip class and think you can get buy. The reason you go to school is to learn and for them to give you as much work as possible so when you start your professional career you understand the concepts of hard work and how to complete a project. About 80% of the post I just read sounds like these kids do not even like art in the first place and just think they can get an easy degree just because it is an art school, if you want to color go the store and buy a coloring book. I also noticed kids crying about money problems and driving to school... This is a $26,000 school in the heart of columbus which 1 bed 1 bath apartments are around 180k. Don't make this school sound bad just because you are poor. Everything I have seen from this school has been nothing but fantastic. I would imagine if you are interested in a college and most of a basically a private college you would want to work your ass off and not complain. So for those of you who went here and thought it would be easy, not expensive and for those who want to just meet kids so you can party I would imagine everyone college is not for you and as far as a career goes... you think this was an intense work load..... good luck with that and maybe you should shoot for something more like a Burger King Manager. | Preparedness: -, Reputation: - | | | |

| | | The place is good enough for specialization: Medicine/Nursing, Liquid Crystals/Materials Science, Education, Architecture, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Journalism - are the ones that I know of which can be considered seriously over here. | Preparedness: -, Reputation: - | | | |

| | Quite Bright | | i've taken a couple of classes at kent state, while doing post-secondary (still in high school). there are some definate high points and low points. if you want to major in architecture, fashion design, or nursing...education too. if the school newspaper is any reflection of the journalism department, then don't even bother. the newspaper is very poorly written. our high school has produced better papers. i also found the course selection in the english department to be lacking and wouldn't reccommend going here for english either. i, luckily, have had many good professors. if you can get into the honors program...do it! you'll get professors and smaller class sizes when other people might get a TA who can't speak english. in the larger classes, it's also very difficult to get to know anyone. i used to love kent state. my dad worked there and i had grown up on campus and really liked the general atmosphere. however, right now they are in the middle of some major problems. there's massive updating and modernizing going on. while it was severely in need of this, they also destroyed my favorite spots on campus, such as the much beloved candy counter, which is now a health food type place. *sigh* also, the old buildings that helped bring the campus character, instead of the ugly brown brick buildings, are being modernized and they've ruined much of the character in them...such as the addition to the auditorium. this "modernization" is also going on in the restructuring of staff and stuff...and they are right in the middle of it. in other words, people getting switched around in job positions, people getting laid off, and people that are so confused by what's going on they don't know what they're doing. basically, you are going to get your share of red tape trying to deal with this *new and improved* system. for most majors...i'd suggest looking into some alternative schools. ksu isn't bad...it's just very very average in a lot of areas...and for those areas that aren't then i guess you should be going here! | Friendliness: B+, Innovation: F | | | |
