Quite Bright
I hated the experience of being at MCO. i was the alst of a three year wonder program which was a dumb idea. Basically, I taught myself becuase the lectures went on and on and frequently ahd no relevance to anything. Teaching to the Boards is what Ohio State did and I wish MCO had confined itself to that. It was the worst part fo my education and on top of that- a no name school to boot. The tuition tripled while I was there- what a shocker that was! Thank God I spent all of my clerkship years out of Toledo- its a hellhole to live in for a city and the weather- well its like Antartica!!
Overall, I think that Medical School is medical school- we all had certain material to learn to pass the boards. The one thing it did teach me to do is teach myself- a valuable experience for my future as an MD becuase you can never stop learning.
Medicine sucks and I would never recommend tanyone with any brains to go into medicine. The money is terrible and the working conditions are worse. If I had taken my IQ, and work ethic into business I would be a multi-millionaire by now. Instead, I have no retirement, no life during the years between age 18-32 (when i finished my training), and a bunch of student loans I spent until age 40 re-paying. For those of you thinking of medical shcool- do something else with your brains. As a teacher of medical students now, I see a deterioration in the claiber of students applying. In the years I was at MCO, we had a lot of bright, articulate people with great ideas. Today, I see a great many "win-tel drone" type students who will be willing to BEND OVER for managed care.
