After transferring from a commuter college closer to home, I loved my years at OU. They gave me confidence, social skills, subject knowledge, love of learning, love of nature, and spiritual guidance. These traits have seen me through graduate school and several career advancements. My advice is you get one chance to go to college. Take the opportunity, take the time to figure out what you want, be led by your strengths and your passions, work on those traits you know you need to improve, and don't take yourself too seriously. Make every day count for something or someone.

I have absolutely loved my first year here at OU. There's so many things to do all the time! I originally came to OU with the intent of pursuing a career in journalism. Though I decided journalism was not for me, I was impressed with the number of other really good programs that were available to me.

Before coming to OU, I read many online reviews and was a little bit apprehensive about some of the things I was hearing. For example, being an out-of-state student, reading some of the other reviews, I was nervous everyone would be from Ohio and I would be out of place. However, this was not the case. I was pleasantly surprised to find several students on my floor alone who were from Michigan (my home state). There are also numerous students from various other states. Though it is mostly Ohio students, I could always find someone to carpool with!

Another thing I was nervous about was the whole "party school" image thing. Personally, I'm not really into that. I don't drink, and I was worried I would have nothing to do. But there's so many clubs and activities going on that I was rarely ever bored. (And when I was, it was my own fault, since there were many options available to me)

The professors here have been great so far in my experience. Though many people warned me about graduate students teaching classes, the few classes I have taken with graduate students have been great experiences. They know their stuff and made class interesting. The professors are very approachable and most respond to email very quickly. A few of my professors have even given us cell phone numbers and encouraged us to call them if we have any questions.Bottom line, Ohio University is great. I could write a whole book about everything I love, but I think you should come visit and see for yourself!
