Let me just say coming in I really gave this university a chance, but I ended up transferring because I hated it so much. The faculty is very unhelpful. Expect many of your classes to be huge, especially going in as an undecided major or a science major.

My adviser was also unhelpful as he didn't seem to care about classes I actually wanted to take. He acted as if I was a number. Many professors are foreign , which I don't have a problem with, as long as they can speak English correctly. At one math class I was in, I noticed my professor had misspelled words on the board and many of us couldn't even understand what he was talking about.

The food here is terrible, especially at Marketpointe. Sometimes bugs can be found in the food there. If you are going to UC, expect to be served the same things day in and day out. There are often long lines in waiting for the food. However, there are some great restaurants around. There is a Chipotle, an Arbys, and there are many Chinese and Indian restaurants around the university. There is also a Kroger nearby within walking distance in case you want actual groceries.

Many buildings on the campus are falling apart. Inside Zimmer, when it rains, sometimes it leaks inside and there are puddles everywhere. The dorm rooms are tiny, which is to be expected at many universities, but the conditions are terrible in them. Paint is peeling off of the walls in some rooms and the air conditioning is terrible. The bathrooms are disgusting and also are falling apart. They are not cleaned everyday and there are puddles everywhere where you can slip and fall. UC works for some people and doesn't for others. However, I would definitely not recommend coming here. I'm glad I transferred.

UC is a good school and can provide it's students with opportunities to grow, succeed, and gain relative experience in their major.

However, the social life here is terrible! The school is completely Cincinnati-oriented and there are very few people that are not from the state of Ohio. People are mostly from the region and form cliques with people that they already know. Very little student diversity. This school is just an extension of high school, very childish and lame. If you are not that school spirit bro/bra type you will not fit in, unless you are in DAAP. If you are in DAAP you will find friends if you're an artsy hipster who loves macbooks. If you're not, you won't find any friends here either. At UC you feel like you live in a bubble. The neighborhood surrounding the campus is terrible and run down, there are muggings and rapes almost daily. I even got mugged. Additionally, Cincinnati is not a very good city. It's comparable to Detroit. The suburbs are booming but the city absolutely sucks. There is no good nightlife, just dirty, ghetto, and shitty bars. There is very little to do around the city and if you don't have a car- you're screwed. The city does terrible job at providing it's residents with public transportation options. If you want to stay on campus your whole college experience and drink with childish Ohioans, then this may be the place for you. Overall, the school doesn't have a very good vibe and I would not reccommend it to anyone unless they fit a certain profile. Out of state people, PLEASE don't go here, you will feel left out of the group.
