I am a Business student in the Human Resource Management program. The business programs here are exceptional. The new Williamson College of Business Administration building is amazing and is really a big advantage to YSU. A lot of people put YSU down for the city it is located in but don't realize how great the programs and faculty here are. I have friends in many departments and they are all exceptional. YSU has great healthcare programs like respiratory care and nursing. Engineering programs are top notch here as well. A little known fact of YSU is the "ICP" or "Individualized Curriculum Program" which allows a student who knows what they want to do but can't find a major to fit their needs to create a new major for themselves with the guidance of faculty at YSU. I recommend YSU to anyone looking for a good education at a low cost.

This is the perfect example of you get what you put in. If you just show up to class, then leave directly afterwards, then of course you won't have the best college experience. There is a variety of student organizations (there's something for everyone). Also, it seems like there is always something going on in Kilcawley Center (the student union), or on campus. The campus is beautiful. I loved my time at Youngstown State!

For me, Youngstown State was all about the professors. I was lucky enough to get "adopted" by a couple professors who then guided me to other professors they respected in other fields. By the end, I had a reasonable facsimile of a traditional Liberal Arts Education. My concern with recommending my alma mater to others is primarily based on my belief that I had a unique educational experience at YSU. I did not witness many of my peers having this same experience. They were getting "job training." Also, most of the great professors I had are now retired with the exceptions of Dr. Minogue and Dr. Shipka in the Philosophy dept. I am simply not tuned in to whether the newer professors are reaching out to the current students like I was. I hope they are.
