Gods Spirit is NOT at that school.... I'm all for rules and chapel but ORU is all about money and not God. None of the staff want to help you and it seems everywhere I turned I was being fined. The majority of the students are sent there by thier parents (usually preachers kids) to straighten them out, but are wild behind closed doors. I lived in the dorms called Full Armor (3rd floor), and everyone would be naked the majority of the time dressing up with socks on their penises saying a prayer in the name of Jesus at the same time. It sickend me. It's all religious... an outwardly appearance and on the inside are snakes. woe uto you Richard Roberts and Ted Haggard. The sad thing, is God is real yeall and He is Living Water. Where is Spirit is there is freedom! Don't go to ORU... Serve the lord at your home town university, you can reach more people and get more done for Gods kingdom and save a lot of money. In high school, I had no intention of attending ORU. But during my junior year, I was invited to come to a college weekend and I reluctantly went. I was surprised to find that ORU was a great school where everyone was welcoming and friendly. Academics are excellent here and the professors are truly brillant. A majority of the students are friendly but you'll run into some close-minded ones. In high school, I often felt scrutinized for being a Christian but felt accepted here. Though we don't "party" like other public colleges, we do find ways to have fun without going crazy. Student Association hosts many fun activities and there's a lot to do on and off campus. President Rutland has done an excellent job improving the school for the students and has made many improvements. I feel like the faculty really cares about the students and are compassionate and understanding. My only complaint is trying to find time to do "aerobic points". Though working out is good for you, I find it hard to make time to fill my aerobic point requirements each week since I have a busy schedule. Despite ORU's questionable reputation, I would recommend prospective students to check out ORU for yourself. Attending ORU College Weekend will most likely change any doubts you have about coming here. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Collaboration/Competitive: B+

The engineering program was great but under-budgeted. Professors take a personal interest in their students and are always available for help. The Engineering and Physics courses were pretty challenging, the General Education courses were fairly easy.
I came here after attending a college weekend because the people are very friendly. Of course, there are the self-righteous and snooty rich kids, but they can be avoided. I attended a secular high school where my beliefs were constantly under attack, so ORU was a breath of fresh air. I took every opportunity that I could with Summer Missions changing my life and my world-view forever. ORU had won the ASEE State Senior design championship for several years in a row including my year. I had no problem finding a job at a large fortune 500 company after graduation, and was told later that a strong character and honest interview made up for my lack of experience. In addition I met my wife at ORU and we are happily married and plan to encourage our children to attend. Hopefully the academics will stay up to par. | Friendliness: A, Campus Maintenance: C-

| Bright | ORU doesn't have very high standards as far as curriculum goes. Your ability to follow rules is more applauded than your intelligence. But your college experience can be what you make it at ORU. You can be super involved or on the outskirts doing your own thing with your own friends. But I don't really recommend the art department to anyone who wants to take their art career seriously. There's just not a culture to thrive in for the art community, mostly because anything that is too edgy or controversial has to be ignored or toned down. | Friendliness: A+, Education Quality: D+ | | | |
