| Super Brilliant | Low budget community college. The buildings are 1920's vintage poured cement, the roof leaks. No elevators, lots and LOTS of stairs. Parking is just barely OK. This is all due to a very limited budget, not because of lack of caring. On the good side: The admin staff is fast and efficient. Every person working there, profs included, want you to succeed and will help all they can. The personal touch was worth taking classes here rather than another CC located 15 miles closer. I will finish my AA/OT next quarter and will have NEVER been on hold or sent to voice mail. You can consult you advisor by just bumping into them in the hall and having a chat. Very laid back, totally Northwest Oregon Attitude. On the bad side: Astoria is an economically depressed area. The student body is friendly enough, but there is very little diversity. Most students are retread older students looking for a career change (sometimes forced upon them) so they bring a certain mount of negativity with them. The younger students tend towards the "mom said I have to go" type. Average GPA for AA/OT student: 2.61. Average number of AA/OT students that complete the course and go on to upper division classes: less than 30%. | Individual Value: A+, Campus Aesthetics: F | | | |

| Bright | My time at Clatsop Community College was fantastic!! I found a warm and diverse group of friends, had many wonderful teachers, and thoroughly enjoyed living on the Pacific Northwest Coast. My education prepared me for undergraduate school at The Evergreen State College in Washington; and I have now been accepted to Oxford for my Masters. My coursework and professors in the Sciences were at par with those in Universities (or better!). And I had a great time taking many of the art courses, cooking courses, and even massage! I suggest joining the student body government as well (working there covered my tuition costs and introduced me to a lively group of individuals). Enjoy the area! There is the ocean, forest, mountains, and, of course, rain. Camp, have bonfires, see music at the VooDoo lounge, watch locally produced plays, and attend art gallery openings. | Faculty Accessibility: A+, Campus Maintenance: B- | | | |
