I attended SOCC because I wanted an education at a lower cost. I enjoyed my experiences at SOCC. There are both pros and cons here.

Pros- Beautiful campus, nice housing, small class sizes, lots of opportunities, amazing and great rec center, participating in sports is easy, getting involved is encourage. Very diverse in age, not so much in culture, but there is a "little" bit of every culture. No out of state tuition!!! Coos bay is pretty, the beaches and dunes are beautiful.

Cons- Its a rather expensive community college, almost as much as universities; however, it is able to offer many more opportunities and a better experience than other community colleges. No pool. Financial aid is a pain (like any other college). Way too much rain, and the weather can be pretty depressing in winter. About an hour and a half from the nearest big city, Eugene. It is important to get involved, if you don't, your experience here will suffer.
