| Bright | I did not have a good experience with this school. I found other comments posted to be true in my experience too. Admissions staff is very friendly and helpful. The instructors are generally friendly too however this is all to no avail if you should run into technical difficulties or personal difficulties. I had a medical emergency with my son and a tree fall on my house and instead of being flexible and under standing they just give you paperwork to fill out but no time to fill it out. The schedule is too fast paced to allow for portfolio quality work and the academic advisers that are supposed to be there to help you aren't. I have had a new adviser every session. they are just not reachable if you can even figure out who you have. | Campus Maintenance: C, Collaboration/Competitive: F | | | |

This is really upsetting and unsettling for me to read some os these reviews. I started classes at AIPO in Jan.2007 and I am still enrolled. I love my classes and find them to be very challenging. I did only recieve a GED so I am very offended by some of the statements made here. I am not an idiot, I'm actually pretty smart. I am a 42 year old woman that has to work 40 hrs. a wk. I work hard for my money and I feel this is the opportunity I have waited for all my life, I can go to work and school and take care of my home and family. I am a talented artistic individual and find my drawing classes to be very encouraging and helpful. I am getting better than I thought I could be at drawing (which I was good to begin with and am working on excellence) and this is thanks to AIPO, and my hard work. I think this is a great school and my family is also very proud of me for my accomplishments. My daughter is starting classes through AIPO also and she is a very intelligent young lady. I think these bad reviews are coming from disgruntled students and employees and I don't think it's fair to people like me that need an online school, for idiots such as yourselves to be bashing it so badly. The students in my classes by the way are very bright articulate people that know how to spell quite a bit better than some of you:)If you'd like to check to see if I am an actual student my name is Katherine Marr McIntosh, remember that name because some of you losers will be seeing it someday. | Education Quality: A+, Individual Value: B- | | | |

| Not so bright | I HIGHLY suggest looking elsewhere before looking into this school. I originally looked into studying Interior Design, a 3.5 year course which is NOT accredited, but does provide a degree. For an unaccredited online program, one would not expect a $60k price tag - THINK AGAIN. After seeing how much it would cost, I looked into it further only to find so many poor reviews from other students. The school e-mailed me up to 30 times a day, seemingly readily available to get me enrolled. I read from other students that their degrees (from a school with open enrollment) were laughed at when people saw their resumes, and that they lacked vital skills that a regular college would have provided. I was also able to find former employees thaat explained how their pay structure works; commissions, you guessed it. No WONDER they were so eager to help me. Needless to say, I e-mailed my admissions counselor, financial advisor and the original rep asking to cancel all of my admissions info. Of course, I didn't hear anything for days. Luckily my admissions counselor did contact me back, but I did receive this lovely e-mail from the original rep today "Earlier today, I was going through some files and I came across something which I wanted to put in this email for you right below. Originally, when you began to complete your application for admissions, there was a section where you were to write an essay. This essay was a chance for you to explain why you would like to be a student with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division and how this program would benefit you in your future endeavors. Your essay was very passionate and expressed your desire to start classes and change your life. I found your essay inspiring and at the same time slightly unsettling, as you never took the first steps on the path of your journey. I know you can do it and also that you WANT to do it. Give me a call in my office, and we can get you ready for classes and on the way to your dream. You don’t have to decide tonight, and we still have plenty of time to get you in, but I would need to know within the next few days. Thanks so much, and I look forward to hearing from you.". Also, just as a side note, while I was still researching this school, I e-mailed this SAME rep and asked when, if I chose to wait one semester to enroll, would I start? After 3 days, he wrote back with "You are scheduled to start October 6th. That is what you accepted your financial plan for. I recommend that you start class October 6th. You have already completed the admissions process. One of your first classes will be The Strategies for Online Learning course. This course was developed to help our students be successful and get familiar with the online format. The Strategies for Online learning course teaches you how to learn online. My students generally spend only 5-10 hours per week for this class, including homework. Most of my students want to get this class out of the way so that they will be able to start their core design course. Hopefully you will start October 6th, of course the sooner you start the sooner you will finish. The hardest and scariest part about school is actually starting. Once you start you will feel more at ease. I am also going to walk you through class your first day to make sure that you are comfortable. What time October 6 will be good for me to walk you through class? Please let me know. Thanks, and have a good day!!!" Wow, they certainly won't take no for an answer, will they? And off the record, I'm now enrolled to complete a 6 yr. program for both my Bachelor's AND Master's degree at a school where my tuition will be cheaper. Funny, I never mentioned anything about being scared.. Don't be bullied into going to this school, cut your losses and don't let yourself lose any more than the $50 enrollment fee!!!!!! | Friendliness: C-, Education Quality: F | | | |
