The academics at the college were amazing.English
The academics at the college were amazing. There were great professors who really cared about you and would chat with you over office hours, and who still love to hear how you're doing years later. There were great discussions in small classes, the opportunity to take classes in other fields... I actually studied for a semester at a very prestigious university and came back because the classes were better. I got a very strong education there that has definitely contributed to my success, I left Allegheny very well prepared.

I wasn't as crazy about the social life. The college wasn't very diverse, despite their best efforts, and a lot of the people were just a little dull. I felt like the students were smart and talked about interesting things in class, but then once we were outside of class, that sense of purpose or excitement or curiosity was missing. For someone like me, who has always been a bit of a nerd and wanted to talk about things I was reading and big ideas, I felt out of place and often disappointed. There also wasn't much going on outside of heavy drinking on weekends, which was fun at first but got old, and it would have been nice to have more things to do.I have no regrets and would go back, but part of me feels like I missed out a little on the college experience; if you see yourself as someone really intellectual and passionate it might not be the best fit.

I love Allegheny more than I thought IQuite BrightCommunications
I love Allegheny more than I thought I would. The students are generally very friendly, more than they were at other colleges I visited. Staff members are serious about teaching, not just about research. They really want you to do well and passionate about their subjects. Before coming here, though, people should know that it is a LOT of work. The homework load is more than expected. It's manageable, but you have to manage your time wisely and work hard to do well.

Allegheny was a great school.Quite BrightEconomics
Allegheny was a great school. It prepared me for graduate school. I went to one of the best grad schools in the country and thought it was easy compared to Allegheny. I now have a great job and was hired by an Allegheny Alum. Meadville is a great town. I always felt safe and there were enough bars and restaurants to keep me happy. I love the small town feel where you go to the same places and everyone knows eachother.
