DO NOT GO TO BRYN MAWR! Yes, the campus is absolutely gorgeous. Yes, it is incredibly easy to take classes at the nation's best colleges (Swarthmore, Haverford, and UPenn). Yes, the Washington Post rated the school number one. However, if you do decide to come to BMC expect:

1) The most bizarre student body imaginable. It is not uncommon to see girls wearing capes, fairy wings, etc in the dining hall on a daily basis. Last year, a girl in my dorm was known to have conversations with her computer. When my parents came to visit, their jaws just absolutely dropped when I showed them around campus. The Fisk Guide to Colleges places BMC girls on the "dodge ball target" list. Social skills? Absolutely unheard of at Bryn Mawr. Eye contact is non-existent, smiling illegal. Happiness means you are not studying enough/staying in every single night pouring over your textbook. There is an atmosphore of such negativity, arrogance, and isolation which never in my life have I seen. Where else but Bryn Mawr is there a phenomenon called the "Phantom 500" where you do not see a quarter of your class until graduation? It is beyond unusual, it's unhealthy. Two of my classmates were forced into mental instituions.

2) During my tour of the school I was strongly assured that interaction with males was easy, just a "five minute blue bus ride away." WRONG! If you decide to become a Mawrter (which tellingly rhymes with martyr)you will have absolutely no male friends, and the guys at Haverford are a sad excuse, believe me. Well, perhaps if you are a fan of lame parties in shitty basements, of trying to impress socially retarded lacrosse jocks, or socializing with the same exact crowd every singly weekend... Guys from Haverford are on average about 5'5'', from a prestigious boarding school, have had everything given to them on a silver platter, and have an absurdly disproportionate pool of females from which to choose.

3) So supposedly there is a friendly partnership between BMC and Haverford, I firmly disagree. Haverford women are almost bitter against Bryn Mawr women, and, as a previous student described on this website, will definitely ban you from social gatherings. Never in my life have I felt such hostility. I'm a friendly person, and yet I am completely shocked at how much hate I feel when walking into the Haverford DC.

4)Despite the academic arrogance of seeminly all the students, very few of my classmates were excepted into the Ivies. Actually, I can think of only about three classmates that are now attending the school of their dreams. The majority was rejected.

Honestly, I beg you to please avoid the unhappiness and pick another liberal arts college.

Quite Bright
Do not go to Bryn Mawr if you are interested in the arts. It does not have ANY visual arts program, and Haverford's is extremely small and weak.
Bryn Mawr is not a normal college experience. Forget what everyone says about ties to Haverford- if you want to meet boys, even just for friendships, you will not. Note that a number of your peers at Bryn Mawr will find themselves unhappy in the absence of guys and that these negative attitudes will also affect your experience.
