I had received my Bachelors Degree from Cal in 1999. i am a non-traditional student. I am currently 54 y.o. and received a buy out from Verizon Communications Just an FYI I have never met a doctor, psychiatrist or therapist that hasn't said Verizon management policies earn the mental health field a great deal. I went Carnegie Mellon for an MBA. Verizon paid the $14,500 per class...no that is not a typo. Verizon after all only had t pay for 14 classes. Cal U has an absolutely fantastic campus, wonderful teachers and great curriculum. Professor Bonari has a great deal to do with running the department and she the best of the best. She has our program not just meeting standards, but exceeding them. States all over the country want Cal U PA teachers. Many people including Mrs. Bonari made and to make it a Cadillac Degree. So before you stick your nose in the ratings books, call around and ask the employers both in and out of PA about Cal U's Education Department. It was originally a "Normal School" meaning only taught teaching. If you want to become a teacher. especially Special Education, Not Pitt, Not CMU, Not Duquesne...Its Cal U all the pay. Now if its prestige you want like I have with Carnegie Mellon , well go for it, $14K per class isn't much for some? yes some of the 1%. Cal U does just kill you with fees, like $1500 a semester, unbelievable. The education is stellar and well worth it. I have attended CCAC, Waynesburg U, Katz School of business @ Pitt, Carnegie Mellon and Cal U. and of Business,CMU. President Armenti has made the University a show place. It is so so so much nicer than and Carnegie Mellon or even armPITT. I am so glad to be back. When I first came here in 1976 it was like Gotham City in a Tim Burton Batman movie. Now its ranks more than equal and surpasses the most expensive schools. I think Cal surpasses in amenities the most expensive schools in the tri state area. The Education degrees match the amenities match as well. The education is world class.

Depending on your major this school can be great for you. Find out everything for your major this school offers before deciding to come here. Nursing majors are left confused and sometimes pushed behind a year. Education majors have it all planned out.
