Cal is a very beautiful school. Depending on your major, you can love it or hate it. I expected the classes to be a lot harder than they were. A lot of students seem like idiots. If you come to class, and do the work you will do well. Everyone always says "spend many hours a week studying your notes" I've spent a couple hours the day before and aced tests. The city of California is as dull as it gets. There is a dairy queen and a subway. A lot of people say there is nothing to do. If you really want to party every night and be really social, you definitely can be. You can't just sit around and hope that someone asks you what you're doing tonight. It can be fun and other times it can be boring.

The Chemistry and Physics Department has made great strides recently to improve the educational experience for students who are interested in industry, grad school, and teaching. I was very happy with my fundamental studies in physics and mathematics. There was a range of student abilities in the physics program. Some students were very bright and eventually moved on to grad school in physics or materials science. Others were less talented, but nobody was unmotivated to learn. We had a team atmosphere and got some cool stuff done. While I was in the program, I was fairly neutral about its quality. It was until I got to grad school and met some other physics students from bigger-name institutions that I realized how much better my experience was. I recommend joining the Chemistry and Physics Department, especially if you are very bright. The faculty will challenge you and give you the time and space to do some great things that you wouldn't be able to do at a much larger university.

Super Brilliant
The small size of the program I was enrolled in really forwarded my professional goals. As an undergrad, I did many of the types of projects my peers didn't get to do until grad school. The theatre program was very much what you made of it. Like any school, you learn as much as you want to. If you apply yourself, and take on extra projects, you learn more than if you only do class work.
the only drawback to my time at CalU would be the lack of job placement. i was prepared to go into the work force, and on to grad school, but i didn't have much guidance in how to find a job or grad school.
