 | Not so bright | I can without a doubt say that coming to this school was one of the worst decisions I ever made. I came in expecting to be intellectually challenged, surrounded by students who were serious about learning and being an adult, and being treated as an adult. Instead, the vast majority of the student body is below average intellectually, socially inept, and primarily concerned with getting wasted. The one review about 'bros and hoes" may have been a bit extreme, but was not entirely off. The administration does not care about you. You are nothing more than a dollar sign to them, as is the faculty (Google Duquesne professors want union). The only real positive of this school is the professors. Most treat you with respect and care about your education. That however, is not enough to warrant the outrageous cost for this university. | Campus Aesthetics: A-, Innovation: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | On campus housing is absolutely terrible. It is a rip off in many ways. Be cautious of all the things Duquesne promises you--it's important to remember that they do everything they can to please you, until you actually become a student. | Campus Aesthetics: A+, Education Quality: F | | | |

| | Quite Bright | I'm a first semester freshman at Duquesne, and I'm transferring out after this semester. I picked Duquesne so I would be closer to home, but I realize now that that was a huge mistake. The campus is nice to look at, but that's really the only good thing about it. Duquesne's College of Liberal Arts is middle-of-the-road at best, and the facilities, though they are not bad, are definitely not as good compared to other local schools that ask for far less money for students to go there. I have had some pretty nice professors, but even though they were kind, most of them were altogether useless and not helpful with classwork. The food is fattening and greasy and there are not that many healthy options for students who want to eat a little better than they used to. The social scene is almost identical to how it is in high school in that the school is 99% jocks, cheerleaders, bros, and hoes. Anyone who doesn't fit into that profile is basically shunned and winds up alone. The ultra-conservative religious environment does not help to create the growth-inducing college experience most students look forward to. Also, 6 credits of theology to graduate is absolutely useless and complete bullshit. Students are told to keep their language and actions "Duquesneable" and it's extremely difficult to hang out with people of the opposite sex in the dorms. I'm a big writer, and I have felt absolutely no motivation to do anything creative since coming to Duquesne, and that horrifies me. So, I am transferring to a school where I can hopefully grow more as a writer and as a person. I will not miss Duquesne, and I would not recommend going here unless you were popular in high school or are majoring in business, music, teaching, nursing/pharmacy/pre-med/any other science-related field. | Campus Aesthetics: A, Education Quality: F | | | |
