Personally, I hate Lehigh. For the sake of objectivity, I will try to make this comment as neutral as possible.
I won't talk about academics, just about my prediction of your happiness at this university. Basically, it comes down to this: if you are liberal, open-minded, and looking for an interesting and/or different college experience to stimulate personal growth and build worthwhile relationships, DO NOT COME HERE. You will be sorely disappointed and have your optimistic views of the world shattered. On the other hand, if you are rich and white, and enjoy being with the rich and white; if you are strongly conservative and don't want to hear others' opinions; or, if you were a tight-ass student and got good grades and want to know what it's like to be drunk so bad that you're willing to give up everything else in your life so that you can "achieve" the endless cycle of work-drink-work-drink to the point where it becomes a process more than an appealing lifestyle... COME HERE BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME AND EVERYBODY ELSE HERE THINKS IT'S AWESOME TOOOOOO!
Obviously I'm jaded. But I don't think I'm crazy when I tell people I'm transferring and they move into a state of deep contemplation. The truth is that almost no one is actually happy at Lehigh - most kids here have been told to go here by their parents, to major in something they've been pressured into by their parents. The only way the students cope with this is by drinking their faces off nearly every night of the week, but guess what, they've still gotta get good grades, so every other minute is spent studying. This leaves no time for the soul to grow. I'm not making this up, and I've seen it first-hand (roommates, friends, etc.).
I like partying as much as the next guy, but Lehigh sells its soul to the devil to get its party-school label. I made a mistake coming here, and I really recommend you think about the substance of this university past its image (which is tempting, I have to admit).
Two final comments:
*Yes, a majority of the girls are 7-8+, but they're also trained to be professional retarded crack whores the moment they join the sororities (esp. DG), which they will. 100% guarantee *Also, if you still decide to come here, definitely join a frat/sorority. I hate the greek life, but if you don't join it, your social life will be in the toilet. Yeah, I'm transferring ASAP | Campus Aesthetics: A, University Resource Use: D

Going to Lehigh is like entering the Twilight Zone.
I have searched college catalogues to see where I went wrong and the only thing I can find is a description of Lehigh students' apoliticalness as entering the "Lehigh Bubble". It is far more than political apathy. There is a palpable feeling of total apathy and complete inertia among the student body. I may be a mechanical engineering major but I never thought I would have to check my brain cells at the door when I started Lehigh. Granted this school has historically been a non-liberal arts, boys club, I never thought that I would experience such a low level of intellectual discussion among students at a school of this caliber. There doesn't seem to be an original thought among the bunch. Ok- a bit of an exaggeration
The students are not connected to the town, the sports teams or even the school. I have nothing against frats (some frat guys are my friends) but it certainly feels like the frat guys at Lehigh are not a member of Lehigh community but are loyal only to their fraternity and come down off the hill every once in awhile attend some classes at a place called Lehigh. The administration has allowed the frat life to dominate at Lehigh and it is clearly to the detriment of the school. Fraternities exist at the same levels at other schools, like Bucknell and Colgate but for some reason (maybe based on simply housing needs at Lehigh) the Greek life at Lehigh is semi-toxic for the total health of the school community.
Sportwise-I think there were 12 students, tops at most of the basketball games I attended.
If you think Bethlehem is small go visit Hamilton, NY or Lewisburg, PA. These are much, much smaller college towns yet no one there complains. Southside Bethlehem may be funky but it says something about the apathy of Lehigh students that they can't got off their butts to walk two blocks for a pizza or All You Can Eat Ribs and Chicken. If you think the campus appears vacant(which it does- it's eerie) the town is dead. For goodness sakes, the only sandwich shop in town closes at 2pm on weekdays and 4 pm on a Saturday. That says it all to me. If you can't keep a sandwich shop going in a college town, the college town, isn't one. Students will however, trek like idiots to the frat parties almost every night of the week. Sure going to some parties has some appeal every one once in awhile. But drinking and staring at mostly other guys(only 30% females in my class) ain't my idea of fun for four years. Frankly, I know it is not proper to paint an entire school with one brush but Lehigh clearly has some weird Mojo going on. The faculty is top notch and don't think the faculty deserves the students they have. The campus environs is awesome. However the administration needs some solid forward thinking to rein in the fraternities and to start catering to a less puerile mindset. | Campus Aesthetics: A+, Social Life: D-

| Super Brilliant | Hi. Just a word of advice to anyone who is applying to Lehigh and you are any minority (such as gay, lesbian, bisexual and or Black, Hispanic, Asian or Muslim etc) RECONSIDER. I am a first year and I am black and gay and life here is unbearable. Most people here just self segregate so if you don't fit into the stereotype of the "typical" Black or Hispanic they probably would not accept you. The whites here will call you the n-word or spic. They are mostly racist, conservative and ignorant. The faculty will just view you as a number to raise their statistics and make them look "diverse". DON'T LET DAP OR D-Life fool you. I wish I knew all of this stuff before I came. I am planning on transferring. I hate it so much I will go to community college if I must. Also stay away from the hill. You will not have a social life. The hill is unsafe for minorities. I have become very alone, antisocial and depressed. ONLY APPLY IF you are white rich conservative racist alcoholic. The Greeks rule the social scene because there is nothing else to do here but drink. The Greek system illustrates the conformist ugg wearing student body of Lehigh. | Education Quality: A+, Individual Value: F | | | |

| Quite Bright | Lehigh is hell on earth if you are a minority. Be prepared to be stared at, have things yelled at you, and have to hear racist, sexist, and homophobic comments on a daily basis. There is no one to turn to either. Lehigh is aware of what is done to minorities and does nothing about it. This year someone skinned an animal head and left it in front of the UMOJA house. I've recieved death threats since i've been at lehigh and they just brushed it off. The faculty is pretty good but the majority of the student body are close minded, sheltered, spoiled, ignorant, rich white kids who have grown up in a bubble. They are OBSESSED with alcohol. THEY LIVE FOR IT. If you are not an alcoholic you're going to have a difficult time fitting in or having fun. All they do every weekend is play drinking games (sit in a basement playing with balls and cups) The student body is very homogeneous and is not accepting of people that are different. It is an ultra conservative environment. It's very hard to come across real or accepting people and those that are here are getting the hell out. I know four people that are transferring this year and I don't blame them. I would if I could but I'm stuck here (financial aid). Campus is pretty dull. There's not much to do. The surrounding city is boring as hell. We're ranked in the top ten of the most boring college towns. One good thing about the campus is that it is beautiful. It's very scenic and peaceful. The only bad thing about the actual campus is that we are literally on a mountain. Freshmans can't have cars so you have to walk up and down it to get to class and back and forth. | Campus Aesthetics: A, Education Quality: F | | | |
