LHU helped me so much. The college prepares you for a career in teaching. The college was nice and everyone is nice. Faculty is always avalabile for help. Courses area bit too easy, but who really wants to work anyway?

Lock Haven is really BORING! The University itself is falling apart and overcrowded. The administration is horrible. Hopefully the new president will make headway. I am looking at transfering to a good school where the classes are actually challenging. My advisor told me that people will laugh at my degree because it is from Lock Haven and if I'm serious about higher education (masters/Ph.D) I should transfer (he didn't say it precisely like that, but that was the jist). Bascially the people are friendly, but that's because they are too stupid to care. Most of the student body is just obsessed with gettin plastered and and having sex. That's not why I came to college. I know, AMAZING! I CAME TO COLLEGE TO LEARN! Anyhow, If you are interested in learning, this university isn't very challenging and is relatively simplistic, but if you are looking for a university with challenging academics go somewhere else. Lock Haven "the city" is really lame and the closest "cities" (which aren't really cities, but just suburbia surrounded by rural farms and mountains) are Williamsport and State College. Getting around if you don't have a car is pretty bad. The only real attraction is WAL MART. It is sad. Anyhow, Wal Mart killed the downtown and it is hickville USA... Everyone flocks to Wal Mart. The other wierd thing is all kids from Jersey that go here. They are nationalistic about being from Jersey and for the most part are extremely obnoxious. I would guess most of them are loaded and mommy and daddy are paying for school. Why else would they go to an out-of-state school which costs them 19 grand a year. Anyhow, if you like drinking, partying, and an unchallenging cirriculum, come here. If you actually want to have an education go somewhere else where people are somewhat serious about school because the student body here is relatively dim.

The Biology Department at Lock Haven was a very helpful bunch. The courswork was designed more to prepare you for graduate school than for a specific job right out of school. When I was going there, you left the Bio Dept. with a broad basic knowledge. It was possible to get a good job with government agencies and some private consultants. Some of the cirriculum has changed for the better since I have left. Some of the faculty has changed, as well.
