Penn State is like the archetype of a big university: it has lots of people, lots of faculty, lots of research, and lots of things going on at all times. However, it's also located in the boondocks of central Pennsylvania. Penn State is like an outpost, almost, in the middle of nowhere. If you have a tendency to feel isolated, you may not find this attractive. However, if you're at least a reasonably friendly person, you can enjoy yourself without difficulty. As a note, drinking is a major pasttime here (I'm not making any judgment about this, just noting it for the record).

“PSU is a great school with many opportunites.Super BrilliantEngineering Department
PSU is a great school with many opportunites. Yes it's big.. but you can make your niche here sooo easily!!! Most class sizes are 15-25 students... some general freshman courses are in large lecture halls, but they are accompanied by smaller recitation sessions, as well as optional help all over the place. You can do ANYTHING here. Plus, the squirrel population is booming, so there's plenty of free food right there!
