Lately, I am so disappointed in SRU it's ridiculous. My main problem is Residence Life. Here at SRU, there are so many students that they basically keep Res Life in order the same way they would a boarding school for kids. They yell at you to scare you and get you in line, and they will restrict your access to needs if you get out of line. I lived in North Hall, and we were not allowed access to paper towels in the bathrooms. This was because one or two girls made the bathroom dirty, so we were all punished. We also were threatened with a fine of $200 if those one or two girls did it again. We had our trash can taken away at one point. At one point, the elevator broke, and despite HUNDREDS of calls to maintenance, it took them three and a half months to fix it. Not only that, but you HAVE to purchase a meal plan, and the food is AWFUL.

As for faculty, I have never been more unimpressed. There are SOME amazing faculty, and I will be thankful to them for a long time. However, there are also some faculty who believe they rule the entire campus. Because of their tenure, they treat you like a number, and they create ridiculous policies to penaiize you for tiny little details that nobody should get in trouble for.

All in all, SRU is a cheap state school. It's a dry campus, so even if you're 21, the only place you can drink is Ginger Hill, where EVERYONE goes and it gets annoyingly crowded. You're treated like an inmate or a child as opposed to a free-thinking young adult. Please, if you have the money, go somewhere better. I would have, but I couldn't afford anything else.

I thought that I would enjoy my time here at "the rock," and I did during the first semester. I participated in activities, got excited about being an education major, and it was all good. During this second semester, I am realizing just how much I have been forcing myself to be happy. I am not truly happy here because the campus is so spread apart, so it is extremely difficult to get to know people better. I just found the social aspect of living here to be awful. I was not shy in high school, but when I got here I felt like I had no choice but to be. People were not friendly because you probably would not see each other ever again. I hate having all of these people around me because I do not feel a sense of community at all. I have tried so hard to get involved and I have realized that this is not the place for me. I know that I am making the right decision by transferring from here because it is not a "home away from home" at all. I am excited to leave because I need a smaller campus. If you are not a person who enjoys walking 15 minutes to go socialize with other people that might want to talk to you, then don't come here. Although the academics are great, I just don't feel like I belong, no matter how involved I am. There is only so far a good education can go until I need to be truly happy as well. I don't like it here anymore, and it took me a year to realize it.

If I was given the chance to do my college years over would definitely not come to Sru. The school has some of the worst policy the liberal study courses are ridiculous human diversity (taught by a white man who lives in butler county) college writing 1-2 theater jazz. Then once you finish your liberal art classes and get into your "major course" you have professor teaching subject they haven't worked in over 25 year.in one of my public relation courses the teacher didn't know what twitter was like honestly?

Then the student body looks the same no diversity at all everyone is from small town and are closed minded. Ignorant to different races and cultures. Then there are no career opportunities Sru doesn't realize some of it's students want to do more than work for the butler eagle lol. Don't come to this school go to a real school like Pitt or Penn state on Kent state..
