The value of this university is in its one to one interactions with "actual" doctorate professors specializing in your field of expertise. I am a rising Junior (3rd year student) and an accounting tutor. If you plan on majoring in business, be prepared to work hard. Gen eds will be considered your gpa boosters and should be taken seriously. If you intend on coming here, The Accounting Program is very structured and is very intense. A high quality program that matches the AACSB standards and will be worth your investment. On the contrary, real world business applications is questionable. As long as you understand the text, then you will be just fine as that is what the professors at this university will go by. Being book smart seems to be the theme at this university.

Not so bright
Ship is a fun school. I came here and stayed in the dorms (naugle) for my frehman year. You can easily find a party every night of the week. I, unlike most ship students, did not go out every thurs, fri, and saturday since I caught an underage the first weekend (very very easy to get underages, if your loud in your room the RA's call the police...I blew a .03 and still got charged with an underage). Most students here are big time partiers and usually do not do to well academically. If you can stay away from the parties and actually do your school work and study you can get good grades. I did not expect the school to be that great academically since it is fairly easy to get into the school. I was surprised at how much you can learn and how smart the professors at Shippensburg are. I am in the Biology department and all of the teachers I had were very smart with phds and I learned so much more than I thought I would have. 70 percent of the students are arrogant, immature kids who think that they are the coolest people to walk the earth, and brag too much about partying. There are some students here that are very nice, but most people i have met annoy the hell out of me.( like my neighbors who wake me up on weeknights at 3 am). Overall, if you like partying and think you can avoid going out every night this is a great school. From what I've seen I wouldn't recommend going out every night because these people usually do not have about a 1.8 GPA. I go out fridays and saturdays and have a 3.7 GPA. I am going to transfer to another college next year because that is the college I wanted to originally go to, but didn't get accepted out of high school. Shippensburg is a fun school with a lots of easy girls and believe me go here for a year and you will have many stories to tell from some of the things you encounter at parties. (I think we are in the top 3 of division 2 party schools.
