I personally hated Susquehanna University and I am in the process of transferring schools. A very large majority of the students are white, fairly conservative, and religious (they practice some form of Christianity). There have been multiple instances with swastikas being posted around campus. The surrounding town of Selinsgrove is practically microscopic; the only thing to do is to go a restaurant called BJ's and order Bongo Bongo Dip (which is actually delicious). A "fun" outing is to take the school's shuttle bus and go shopping at the local Target. The campus food is awful; I actually got Irritable Bowel Syndrome from it. The dorms are okay... but beware of incredibly large spiders infesting your room. If you are lucky to not have a spider issue, you will have an ant issue. Or both. So, keep a can of Raid handy. Classes and professors are wonderful, though the art program here is unbearably small. On weekends, many students go to parties. They are often disgusting. 100 people crammed into a small space is not exactly fun. Girls get in for free, guys sometimes have to pay. The male students are typically disgusting at these parties. I myself have been raped twice during my freshman year. There was one reported rape on campus which did get handled by the local police. The university's counseling center and the health center are absolutely wonderful. They are so helpful and caring. I think that the health and counseling centers are better than what any other college has to offer its students.

I must say that most of my experiences with my professors have been positive, but my experiences with administrators of the school have been horrible. The office of Student Life and Public Safety are so rude to you and don't care about the students at all.

Public Safety is horrible. For example, we had recently had a rape in one of the parking lots. The school then hired a few extra guards to walk around campus at night. One night I was woken up by a girl screaming for help outside. I looked out the window and could see a girl screaming for help and trying to break one of the glass doors to get into a dorm with a rock. I also saw one of the new security guard standing in the dinstance just watching her. It was until 20 minutes after I called Public Safety, that someone came to help her.

Also, the school looks at its students as money trees. If they can find a way to make us pay more to go here, they will. Recently they bought the low income housing for the community to allow students to live there. Now that they did that, they are not releasing any students to live off campus. Also, if you want to live in one of these apartments it will cost you about an extra $1,500 a year. Overall, the campus is nice and the professors are somewhat approachable. But as for the administration and other faculty, they are horrible and will try to take all of your money. I do not suggest going to this school.

at a school where the tuition &room &board are regularly hiked up more rapidly than the rate of inflation should allow, some seniors are suffering because the school has denied about 30 of them to live off-campus &is rumored to prevent off-campus living in the future. what the hell? honestly? it's a move of pure greed by the school, just so they can fill up the pine meadows complex they just bought. i do love many of the professors, but that being said, i wouldn't mind if many of my classmates got the flu. the majority of kids that go here are trust fund babies driving mercedes, pampered, sheltered &arrogant. if that's the type of student population susquehanna university is trying to gain by increasing the tuition every year, you can bet i will not be donating a cent to this school. i can't wait to leave.
