St V is an excellent school with a focused program to provide you with the fundamental and advanced skills to excel in my major--accounting. My nephew also attends school there currently and as a junior, he has an excellent understanding of business and accounting. Although it has been a while since graduation, and I lost touch with a number of classmates, I know there has been great financial success by students in my accounting class including a number of partners in big 4 firms and 2nd tier accounting partnerships. There are a number of very successful CFO/CEO from our class as well. Although not verified through study, I would venture to guess that over 40% of my accounting class make a salary ranked in the upper 10% of the population of the U.S.

Saint Vincent does not spoonfeed education. However, every resource you need is there for the taking. The primary strength is the availability of faculty and the close relationships that may be forged with them.

it's a pretty weak school, i only went bc they gave me an academic scholarship. the classes aren't great, they aren't bad either. the real problem is the school's atmosphere. it's an odd mix... the college itself thinks it is impressive, but it's still only known as where teh steelers practice for teh summers. it is very overpriced, and the RA-Monk's are always down your back. the rest of teh campus is split between socially awkward kids who bond together (and that's nice)- and they tend to look down on teh second group... the hollister wearing rich kid douchebags, who even though i lived with them, are unbearable. but i'd rather drink a beer and talk to a cute girl than spin a 12 sided dice on a friday night.

the school has no prescence beyond it's own borders, no one in pittsburgh cares about the school. a girl who i graduated with was bagging grocercies in the city. save some money, go to a bigger school- find yourself, have fun, pay some attention, and a larger school will be better regarded in the long run.

If I had to go to college for 4 years again, I would definitly come back to SVC. I can't believe that some people don't like it here. Too many kids only enjoy college for the parties, which are a huge waste of time and money. Find yourself a good group of people who are on the same intellectual level as you are, and you'll do amazing here and someday all those kids who partied their days away in college will pick up your trash. SVC is a wonderful school and they really try to do a good job in educating and housing students and keeping them happy. But some are just ungrateful and expect their residence hall to be the Hilton, which is ridiculous. If you are down to earth, a genuinely respectful person, and want to go to college because of academic reasons, then this is the college for you.
