I am a second year nursing student. I thought the acceptance into Wilkes would open up doors for my education and eventually my career. Wrong ! The faculty cares about nothing more than themselves, the students rarely even crack a smile, and most work is busywork. Financial aid is hell and trying to get help from faculty is often more difficult than pulling teeth. The food is terrible and overpriced and the amenities for the size of the campus are lacking. The nursing program is a joke and focuses more on random topics rather than actual nursing related curriculum. You will walk into clinical scared shitless, not knowing what to do. The organization of the faculty is the worst I have ever seen. You will never know when something is due or how to actually do it. Overall, Wilkes is a useless money pit that will suck you dry and leave you stupid and uncared for.

I am a freshman female psychology major at Wilkes. I chose this school because it was close to home but far enough to live on campus. thinking back i wish i would have commuted. not only did i get placed in a dorm that was not my choice because it was not even open at the time i registered but i was stuck with some of the rudest people that i have ever encountered in my life that enjoy drama and look so unhappy everyday. Aside from waking up to go to class there never seems to be a reason for me to want to go out. the clubs that I am involved in are a joke, we meet to play games and discuss cartons... seriously i think that my high school had better clubs. The professors range from being extremely enthused with there jobs to being some of the most unhappy people ever who seem to think that even teaching us is a joke. Not only is the education lacking, but the food is too! I don't think that i have ever eaten so many chicken patties and french fries in my entire life. on campus there are about three other place to eat each worse than the other. The entertainment here is awful, aside from the three dollar movie ticket there is absolutely NOTHING to do here the parties are terrible and get old really fast. this campus has the worst public safety team ever. not only did i get suck in a crappy dorm located not to far from the local stab and grab and that has a fire alarm goes off at night around three but i was given attitude by these public safety, who think that all of us college kids are idiots and think that there job is to basically make our lives hell and laugh in our faces. the campus looks amazing in the brochures but please do not let that fool you. Wilkes may be known for a family atmosphere but believe me there is NO family here i can literally walk past people who i sit next to in all of my classes and not even get a hello or how are you. another con of Wilkes is its financial aid support. there is none, Google is your best bet. overall this is the worst semester of my life i have given this school every chance i could its a let down and honestly you will be better of spending the amount of money here (which is far to damn much) somewhere else. GOOD BYE WILKES I WONT MISS YOU!!

I'm a second semester sophomore student majoring in Biochemistry. The department has some professors that are excellent - helpful, knowledgeable, relevant - however the majority tend to be difficult. They are not available most of the time, they have difficulty communicating concepts to students in the classroom and they tend to assign busywork. Walking to class everyday is rather depressing. The campus is not well maintained and most of the students I pass seem miserable. As for the weekends, there's not much to do. There's the occasional house party, but they get old fast. Some extracurricular activities are worth doing (the school has a killer Jazz Ensemble), but for the most part they're of poor quality. Also, a large percentage of the student body comes from the local Wyoming Valley (with a lot of them resorting to Wilkes as their school of last resort). Great pharmacy and nursing programs, superb engineering program, but other than that look for other schools. I plan on transferring out for the Fall 2012 semester.
