As to the Accredidation issue, it WILL hurt you. Although many are able to get into good grad schools, they do so IN SPITE of the fact that the school is not accredited. I was rejected from taking the CPA exam in my state... even though I had more than enough accounting credits... and a 3.7 GPA. I felt like I was forced to go to grad school because no potential employer was familiar with the school. Or, the ones that knew were scared off by the seeming cult mentality of the school. I was able to get into a decent MBA program... again.. IN SPITE of where my degree came from. You will get a good "factual" education at the school, but it will be very difficult to convince grad school programs and potential employers of this.

One thing you will not learn at BJU is how to think... how to reason. In every class I ever took there.... they shoved facts and opinions at me. I did not learn to reason and apply knowledge until grad school.

I disagree that you get a good "Christian" education at BJU. They control every little element of your life. College is the time to start to develop your own set of standards, and it is the time to learn to think for yourself. BJU does not let you do either.I would not recomment BJU to anyone unless they were going into the ministry or maybe music (Music Minor here). It wasn't until about 3-5 years out of grad school that I felt like the burden of my BJU degree had been lifted off my back.

Question
I am very satisfied with the education IHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
I am very satisfied with the education I received at BJU. I was extremely impressed by the faculty and staff. My teachers were very qualified, and were extremely dedicated. They exemplified Christ-likeness and it was a privilege to be under them.

I am currently an attorney, having gone from BJU to a top-fifteen rated law school. I finished in the top part of my class, which I credit mostly to my training at BJU. The discipline at BJU is not for everyone, but it helped mold me into the person I needed to be and it has definitely helped me succeed in my career.

I realize that BJU has received a lot of bad press lately, and I would encourage anyone who hears it to check the school out for themselves -- you can't always believe just what you hear. BJU isn't perfect, but it does strive like no other place to provide a quality liberal arts education and instill godly character in its students.

I also realize that the fact that BJU is not accredited may concern some prospective students. Well, it shouldn't. I know that some folks have had trouble when trying to get into certain graduate schools, but it is simply not as common as some would like to make it appear. I had no trouble getting into law school. I have BJU graduate friends who had no trouble getting into and graduating from such prestigious law schools as Harvard Law, Duke Law, Michigan Law, Virginia Law, etc. In many cases, people who claim to have had a hard time getting into graduate school had a hard time because of poor grades or poor entrance exam scores (especially in the case of law school or medical school). This is not to say that this is true in every case -- I know BJU graduates sometimes have a difficult time, especially if their major is a new one at BJU or there haven't been a lot of graduates in that field. But in almost all of those cases I hear about, the student does get in, or does find a job because the Lord works it out. I would strongly urge anyone to go to BJU. It's a great place, and a unique place. I hope my kids go there some day because I know that they will receive an excellent education, but, most importantly, they will recive guidance in how to serve the Lord in the field He has called them.
