If you are looking for a Christian college that does more than just give you information, CIU is the best accredited college I know of that give you "whole-life training." The education is excellent, the experience is even better. As a pastor who knows a lot of other people in full-time ministry, I can say that CIU prepared me very well for ministry.

This is a wonderful Christian university. The faculty and students are loving Christians. Different opinions are presented and discussed with respect and grace. This school is especially good for anyone who wants to understand the Bible better and be better prepared to minister to others.

I spent my freshmen year at Columbia International University (then it was Columbia Bible College). I highly recommend anyone believing God has called him/her to Christian service to spend at least one year in a Bible college--the one God leads you to.

Columbia well prepared me for both having a Bible background to base my life on as well as a great foundation for dealing with secular and humanistic philosophies of the jr. college and university I finished my degree.

Columbia's main goal is not to turn its students into walking Bible commentaries. They are interested in helping you develop your walk with the Lord so that you, in turn, can help others. Columbia is MISSIONS MINDED--"To Know Him and Make Him Known"--you will meet students of all ages from all over the world who plan on going back to their country to teach what they have learned. Columbia teaches you to reach out to those around you (your neighbors), to those in your community (including the local church), and to the entire world to win it over for Jesus. Many Christian denominations are represented there--kind of like heaven, I think. No one tries to persuade you to become something you are not--you are to attend a church of your choice/denomination while you are there...you are encouraged to be active in your church.

The atmosphere of Columbia is love, not condemnation. You never feel like people are waiting for you to make a mistake so you can be caught.

There are rules, but I found them helpful and not restrictive. They are mostly to keep you safe, to help you learn self-discipline, and to keep an environment of learning.

Columbia is well respected in the area. I never remember hearing negative comments about attending CIU from locals. CIU teaches you how to serve the community, and the community is grateful.

Why did I leave? I knew it was God's will for me to spend a year in Bible college. I did not want to go into debt to finish school there, and I had a scholarship waiting for me at home. Bible college is usually expensive, but if it is God's will for you to be there, He WILL PROVIDE! I had several anonymous donations to my account while there.

CIU is very academic--be ready to study A LOT. It can get stressful for those of us who have to study to get good grades.

CIU is very FRIENDLY and missions oriented. Faculty want to get to know you and spend time with you. Dorm life is fun. Facilities are nice and clean. Improvements and additions are always taking place. It could also be a great place to meet your future spouse.

I highly recommend CIU to anyone called to full-time Christian work--especially missions oriented OR to anyone who knows they need to learn why God is who He said He is, why the Bible is the Word of God, and what God wants to do through his/her life. You wouldn't believe how much there is to learn about the Bible--the learning never ends--even after you leave CIU!

Pray about whether Columbia International University or any other fine Bible College or Christian College is where God wants you to be...make sure you know what the school stands for before you attend a school that is "Christian" in NAME ONLY...you would be surprised!!

By the way, CIU is accredited--I had all my credits transfer (with no problems) to the university.I spent my freshmen year at Columbia International University (then it was Columbia Bible College). I highly recommend anyone believing God has called him/her to Christian service to spend at least one year in a Bible college--the one God leads you to.
