While I am transferring to another school I still would recommend Clemson to the right type of student. Coming from the North, I still felt the stereotypes from the majority of South Carolina students there. Because I didn't have a hideous Vera Bradley bag people felt the need to call me a yankee. They say that Clemson has only around 20% of the population involved in Greek life but it seems way more prevalent around campus. It's hard to make friends and have a social life if you're not in a frat/sorority or fca. Everyone here is preppy, republican and religious and if that's not you then you're gonna get discriminated against. The athletics here are awesome but if you're not obsessed with that then you might want to reconsider schools. Clemson is one big family but you need to be just as obsessed as the next person or you'll feel completely on the outside. The "town" can hardly be called so. There are a few bars but theyre all strict so dont even think about it until you're 21. Pretty much if you're a freshman or sophmore you're going to a frat party. The closest cities you're gonna get are Charlotte and Atlanta, both 2 hours away. I would reccomend Clemson to someone who is willing to be in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a bunch of ignorant hicks or rich southern preppy fratty kids.

In my opinion there is a spirit found at Clemson that is hard to find anywhere else. People are passionate about what they do and about our school. When you come here you either love it or you don't, and almost everyone loves it. Its the kind of place you grow to love for the rest of your life.

I'm from Delaware and fell in love with Clemson when I visited. Clemson offers great academic programs, especially in the sciences. The faculty truly want to see each student succeed and are approachable and helpful. Even though sororities and frats are popular, I am not in a sorority and have not found it difficult to make friends or become involved. Football season is AMAZING. The whole town shuts down and it's an all-day event. Lots of alumni come back for the games and it really does feel like a "family". The students are friendly and are all proud to be tigers. You have to work hard to earn good grades and the faculty has high expectations from their students. Most people are very focused during the week, then we all have fun on the weekends, so there is a good balance between the social life and academics. If you are ready to work hard, like sports, like warm weather, and want to have fun, Clemson is definitely a good place for you. I am so proud to say that I go to Clemson and will always love this place.
