LEMSON, founded in 1889, is a public university.  Programs are offered through the Colleges of Agricultural, Forestry, and Life Sciences; Architecture, Arts, and Humanities; Business and Public Affairs; Health, Education, and Human Development; and Engineering and Science.  Its 1,400-acre campus is located in Clemson, 55 miles from Greenville-Spartanburg.

One of the country's top public national universities, Clemson University is known for its exceptional teaching and research.  Clemson classes are small, almost 40 percent have less than 20 students, and its faculty are well known for their hands-on teaching methods.  As a result, Clemson attracts some of the country's brightest students.  Clemson also has one of the country's top Communication Across the Curriculum programs designed to ensure every student, regardless of major, graduates with strong written and oral communication skills.  Listed as one of National Science Foundation's top 100 research universities, Clemson offers students the opportunity to participate in a variety of research experiences.
