The opportunities for after college success are availableNot so bright
The opportunities for after college success are available to everybody. Perhaps people who didn't participate in those courses, workshops, or activities should have made better use of their academic time. It isn't the Universities responsibility to make sure you are doing what you need to do to ensure your success after college. They provide you with the knowledge base you need to succeed in your field of choice. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. Take it from me. A former FMU graduate class of 04'. Everything you need to be successful is located on the FMU campus. Perhaps some of the technology you needed wasnt there, but that doesn't mean you dont have access to it else where. I did a molecular genetics study as a senior. FMU didnt have all the materials I needed, but that didnt stop them from getting me what I didnt have and making arrangements with local facilities to access their materials. You just have to take an effort in your education and talk to those people who can help you (ie., your advisor or chair of your dept.)FMU is a smaller university and the funding of those u niversities is much smaller than that of "larger" universities. It's a sad, cold, hard fact.

Question
I have posted in the past with regardsNot so bright
I have posted in the past with regards to this blog and people seem to think I am a member of FMU's faculty who is spamming this site with positive comments. Nothing is further from the truth. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Antioch New England studying Conservation Biology. However the majority of things I have to say about FMU are positive. The saying is true. You can only get out of something what you put into it. If you do not like the education you are getting at FMU perhaps you should evaluate "your" performance and make sure you are doing everything you can do to make it better. I for one learned a lot at FMU and to be honest feel like I was "over-prepared" for graduate school. A lot of the things I was being taught in my first 2 semesters of graduate school I had already learned at FMU. There are a lot of new faculty in the Biology dept. but the core group is still there and I don't see how you can go wrong with them. I agree that the nightlife in Florence, SC is "dead" to say the least. But college isn't about the nightlife. Sure it's nice to be able to go somewhere and blow off some steam after a tough exam, but that shouldn't be your deciding factor when selecting a school. Clemson for example is WAAAY out in the sticks, but its still a very good school. I can't speak for psychology, business, or computer science, but I can tell you that the majority of classes I took at FMU were informative and the faculty were cooperative and conducent to a learning environment. Sorry for the wordage there... I was a high school teacher for three years after I graduated.

Question
Oh my gosh!! How can a university doNot so bright
Oh my gosh!! How can a university do something like spamming a web site such as this one. When I heard about it, I couldn't believe it. Now, it is clear to me, especially after I saw the reaction of some people around the university. I just want to know who would come up with that idea. I too want to see this person made known to everyone and fired. I don't care if it is Mr. Carter or anyone else. It is just not acceptable to engage in spamming. That's not acceptable!!!!!!
