Hiwassee is a sinking ship. They make themselves look great on paper and in brochures, but upon arrival and touring the campus the students know they've bitten off more than they can chew. The school is in a beautiful location, but the buildings have seen little to no renovation since they were constructed. The tiles in the dorm halls are broken, the carpet in the lobbies is revolting, the furniture provided in all the student gathering areas is highly used and filthy looking. The entire college seems to be stuck in the fifties. Several of my friends who chose to go to the University of Tennessee compared it to concentration camps and "Silent Hill". The faculty is nice enough, but can be heard making negative comments about the student body relentlessly. Even the president of the college is guilty of such.

For further proof of Hiwassee's inferior facilities and education system, research it's accreditation problem's. It keeps losing its accreditation yet broadcasts that it will be receiving it from other boards and associations. It's all a front. Personally, I got the vibe that the school was there to soak up and embezzle money. The tuition is unbelievably high for such a crummy place. I am positive there are many other students who feel the same way. All in all, don't go to Hiwassee. Save yourself a negative experience.
