So I am in my first year at Lee and I wanted to tell you what I think is the good and the bad at the university...

The Good
Everyone is friendly and in a good mood. Peaceful campus and decent dorms. It is a Christian school, and that is fine for me b/c I feel like I can strengthen my faith here. If you arent Christrian, you may have a hard time with the chapel attendance every week that is mandatory. The professors do care about you here and they want you to succeed. I feel comfortable here. The course work isnt too hard-pretty straightforward. On Friday nights they school tries to have an event in the student union for free with some sort of food and entertainment. When you first come here, you definetely feel like the University isnt trying to rush you into classes but to host different events for you to get to know other people.

All in all, a nice school.
Oh, and Im a female and I feel safe walking around here. No problems yet
And although you know that it is a Christian University, you dont feel like the school is trying to brainwash you. Yes they have rules but would you expect to go to a faith based school and be allowed to drink on campus?

The BAD
So everyone is nice surface level but with that being said, it is kinda hard for people to really open up to each other b/c they dont want to look like a bad christian. Ive had one girl tell me that if she "gossiped about other people, well, the other person should be a christian about it and just forgive me" so yeah, students will try and use their "bigger" faith to judge you...

the cafeteria food sucks. Dont buy into what they show you doing Lee day. It is the same food every day. Today I found 3 hairs in my salad...gross

Although Chattanooga is only 30 mins away, there is absoultely nothing to do on the weekends. Cable doesnt come in any of the dorm rooms (they do have one room on each floor of the dorm that you can share with other girls but you still have to share) and it is very dull. No wifi in atleast half of the dorms.

Basically if you arent into rec sports (im not) then you are bored to tears.
The library has really inconvenient hours during the weekend and the dining hall is even worse... they are open for one hour during lunch and thats it...

the buildings are decent and the campus is very well maintained but there isnt cutting edge technology or anything like that

they will give out tickets to anyone like candy. be forwarned
if you loved your youth group then youll love it here. if you never fit in with your youth group-i didnt even though im christian, then you probably wont like it.

I stumbled upon this website and felt it was my duty to throw a decenting view into the mix. Lee is not the school for Communications majors; there is very little in the way of actual preparation for a career. I realized this fact just after starting my junior year and checked into transferring to a school that had better placement. It turns out that the required theology classes I had taken (as well as several of the general ed. classes) would not transfer and I would have to start out at the new school as a first semester sophmore. I decided, in a rash of optimism, that I could make it work and should stay. If I had it to do over again, I would have left when I had the chance.

I loved my years at at Lee. I wouldn't trade them for anything. I feel I received a good education, but rarely felt like I was really being pushed or challenged. Part of the problem there is that learning has always come easy to me. My favorite thing is that even though people may hang out in their own close group of friends, everyone likes everyone for the most part. It really doens't mater if you're in a certain frat or club. I wish I had four more years there.
