This is the most affordable college for me. I had good gpa and act scores. I don't have a major yet and was hoping to get inspired here but it is like high school all over. The obnoxious, loud, threatening behavior of the black students makes dorm life intollerable. Like high school, no authority figures do anything about it. I am just so tired of the direction our country is going and this place reflects that.

Quite Bright
If you come here try to pick your roomies and walk with them to class. This is very important at night due to continuing violence and a large number of criminal types lingering around campus and especially girls dorms. It seems like violence is escalating. A female athlete was reported stabbed to death today.

Not so bright
i am a freshman (female), and this is my second semester here. the only reason i am going to MTSU is because i am getting a nice scholarship due to my good high school gpa. if i had the money, i'd go to college out of state.

i'm not exactly sure why, but applying here and getting my financial aid and loans took FOR. EVER. to process. i turned all of that stuff in months before it was due. on the last day to turn in the fafsa, i had to come up to the financial aid office and wait in a line for 3 hours to ask them how the hell my fafsa wasn't "complete". after some guy behind the counter looked at some papers, he was like ummm ill be right back, and 10 minutes later he came back and said "uhh alright its done, sorry for the wait." seriously???

do not go to this university if you have any other choice.
first of all, i do not feel really safe here. i am constantly getting emails and texts alerts from MTSU's campus safety-alert program. basically most of them are like this: 2am, "black male in red hoodie with handgun spotted on campus near KUC, do not approach." ect. there are always people lurking on campus that don't even go to school there. it's fucking weird. but hey, at least we have safety alerts.

a lot of the professors just suck. whether or not you pass your class all depends on the professor you get. i only went to a few of my classes last semester and still passed. i just got so lazy and unmotivated, because class was boring and i wasn't learning anything. i dropped my english class because my professor was being a fucking jerk to me for no goddamn reason. i had to switch out of two of my other classes because the professors were constantly late to class, and many times didn't even show up.

this semester, though, i'm taking American Media and Social Institutions with prof. Kimbrell (whom i highly recommend) and its a class that i actually enjoy going to. my other three classes are just alright. it's three weeks into the spring semester and i haven't gotten any homework except for one worksheet in Psychology and one survey i had to take for AMSI. this semester is slightly more enjoyable than the last. i can't wait until the weather starts to warm up again. being on campus is always more pleasant when the sun is shining.

social life: in a town like Murfreesboro, you really just need to know the right people. i'm tired of hearing everyone saying stuff like "there's never anything to do here on the weekends/at night." are you kidding? some crazy ass parties go down here all the time. you people just never know about them. and i'm not talking about dumb frat parties or anything, where the girl to guy ratio is all fucked up and there's way too many bros and all the girls look like slutty little orange trolls.

i'm talking about some legit house parties like the shit that i've been to in cities like LA. also, due to MTSU's RIM program, the local music scene here is pretty interesting..so you can expect a lot of good house shows. all i can say is, make as many friends as you can. and if you want something to do this weekend, THERE ARE FLYERS POSTED EVERYWHERE around campus. look at them. go to those events. get drunk and meet people.good luck.
